Agenda Details
One of the highlights of this year's conference will be a discussion on the ocean policy initiative coming from the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force as directed by President Obama. The panel will take place on the afternoon of February 5th and will feature different perspectives on what should and shouldn't be present in an oceans policy. Communities, harvesters, processors, and fishery managers will be represented on the panel.
Also on the fishing front, we will hear about some of the new and innovative practices being applied by the Fishery Industrial Technology Center and the UAF Crab Enhancement Project. Finally, SWAMC members will be treated to a discussion on the Steller Sea Lion Biological Opinion on Thursday. The Steller BiOp is due in March.
The February 5 banquet will feature a 2010 gubernatorial candidate forum, moderated by Michael Carey. It should be an interesting and entertaining evening! Go to www.swamc.org to find more information, and make sure to check out the energy workshop agenda.
