2010 conf SWAMC Membership Meeting
The next Southwest Alaska Economic Summit & SWAMC Membership Meeting is scheduled for February 4-5, 2010 at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage. The theme is 2010: A Place Odyssey, and the conference will focus on the issues that make the Southwest Region a great place to live, work, and play.

In the weeks ahead we will offer more details about some of the panels and discussions scheduled for the two-day event. Topics in this year's meeting will include rural transportation planning, our nation's newly released oceans policy, building out broadband infrastructure in Southwest Alaska, climate change implications for our region and the rest of the state, and many more. The banquet will feature a 2010 gubernatorial candidate forum. Lastly, the annual business meeting of the SWAMC membership will be held on the morning of February 5.

Annual Energy Conferenceenergy_crisis
The 3rd Annual Energy Conference will again take place the day before the Annual Membership Meeting on February 3rd from 9 to 5:30. This year the emphasis will be on what is happening right now to improve conservation, efficiency, and education.  We will provide a forum for new and exciting projects that have been developing over the past year including the Wind for Schools project, Aleutian Pribilof Island Association's DOE Conservation and Education Program, and the Pillar Mountain Wind Farm. We are also excited to be presenting products and methods for energy efficiency being used around Alaska right now.  If you would like more information or to register for this exciting day, visit www.swamc.org or email vista@swamc.org.

Learn how to create a climate that caters to small businesses and promote small business development in your area." This course will be held at the Hotel Captain Cook.
