| CDS Student Council - Be a part of it! |
"The purpose of the Central Day School Student Council is to promote and develop student leadership and citizenship; encourage student participation in school activities; promote and organize opportunities for service to the school, church, and community; and demonstrate Christian values and respect for high standards of scholarship."
Applications for CDS Student Council are due by noon this Thursday. Applications may be picked up in homeroom or may be downloaded from the CDS website. Campaigning for classroom representatives may begin September 27 and continue through October 1. Students in grades 4-7 will be electing two representatives from each homeroom and grade 8 will elect four representatives. Voting will take place in homeroom on Friday, October 1. Once representatives have been elected, students in grades 6-8 will hold elections for officers.

| Mark your Calendar ... invite the Grandparents! | |
CDS cordially invites all grandparents of CDS students to attend our special Grandparent's Day program on Wednesday, October 13. New this year, instead of coming for lunch, we invite grandparents to visit the student for goodies in the classroom at 1:00 p.m. with a program honoring grandparents to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Worship Center. If a student doesn't have a grandparent that can attend, we invite grandparent "stand-ins" like an aunt, uncle, friend, or even mom or dad. Parents are welcome to attend the musical program as well. Please make your plans to join us for this special day! |
| School Portrait Proofs | |
Proofs of school portraits taken on August 31 were sent home today in the Tuesday Informer envelope. If you are planning to order pictures, please select the package and style you prefer and return the proof with payment by Monday, October 4. Please make checks payable to Holland Studio. If students missed school pictures or you are not satisfied with the picture, picture make-up day is Tuesday, October 5. If you are going to have a retake, simply write "retake" on your proof and return it to your homeroom teacher by October 4. ALL PROOFS MUST BE RETURNED TO YOUR HOMEROOM TEACHER, even if you are not placing an order.

| Box Tops for Education and Campbell Soup Labels | | Geneva Moore is the Box Top/Campbell Soup Label Coordinator for the 2010-11 school year. CDS receives dollars/points for each top/label collected. We were able to purchase recess games and PE supplies with money/points earned last year. Boxtops are measured in dollars - our goal this year is $1,000. Soup labels are measured in points - our goal this year is 35,000 points. Please watch the Informer for updates and special promotions.
