| Central Church's
Parents Day Out |
|
Registration is now open for CDS families who would like to enroll your child in Central Church's Parent's Day Out and Preschool. This outstanding program provides a loving, Christ-centered preschool environment that develops the readiness skills needed for kindergarten. There are a variety of schedules for infants through transitional kindergarten with a limited number of spaces available. For more information, contact the PDO office at 255-8114.
|
| Dress Code Reminders |
* Students are not allowed to wear leggings.
*Tights must have feet.
*Long sleeve shirts cannot be worn under short sleeve shirts
*Boots may be worn with pants only (pants must be on the outside of boots)
*Only jackets allowed in classroom are the Dennis fleece |
| Check the Label |
|
Dennis items look alike, please frequently check the label and make sure the item belongs to you. If it does not, please return it to the office and we will return it to the rightful owner. |
| 40 Degree Policy |
Please make sure your child is dressed warmly for the cold weather. If the temperature is above 40 degrees (or feels like 40+), and it is not rainy or muddy, children will go out for recess and carline. Jackets, sweaters, hats, and gloves should all be marked with your student's name. |
| Mom's In Touch |
Parents are invited to meet on Wednesdays from 8:15-9:00 a.m. in the Chapel. We will be praying for our children as well as CDS teachers and staff. For more information, please contact Anne Frey at 737-7115. |
| Kroger Cards |
Did you know you can buy your groceries and CDS will get a portion of the sale? Purchase a Kroger card in the school office for $5.00. It is already loaded with $5.00, so it doesn't actually cost you anything. At Kroger, load the Kroger card with whatever amount you choose. The cashier will then scan your groceries and you will pay with your Kroger Card. It's that easy and you are not spending any money that you would not have already spent. Every time CDS spends $5,000, Kroger will cut us a check for 5%!
We are only $900 away from the $5,000 goal. |
| Spread the Word |
Registration for the 2010-11 school year has opened to the general public. Make sure you tell your friends, family, co-worker, etc. who are looking for affordable Christian education about CDS. For every new student who is accepted and attends CDS based on your referral, your family will receive $300 towards your CDS tuition. Referral forms and additional registration packets are available in the school office. |

Items can range from toys, to household items, artwork, services (such as manicures, pedicures, massages, oil changes, hair cuts, etc.). We'll accept (almost) anything ... be creative. The auction committee will make final determinations regarding the appropriateness of items for the auction. Please bring items to the school office by Monday, March 1. If you have any questions, call the event chair-person, Tricia Davis at 850-0734 or email triciadavis40@ comcast.
Sealed Bids
Each class (K-5) is creating a beautiful piece of artwork for the upcoming auction. These pieces of art will be on display in front of the school office March 3-5. Anyone may submit a sealed bid. At the auction the sealed bids will be opened and those attending the auction will have a five minute opportunity to outbid the highest sealed bid. Watch for details on how to submit a bid. |
| Tardies and Absences |
|
|
As we approach the end of the school year, please keep in mind the importance of attendance and punctuality.
Attendance:
"All students must maintain regular attendance in order to keep up with daily work and comply with state laws. Under Tennessee state law the 'principal or teacher of every public, private or parochial school must report promptly to the director of schools, or the director of schools' designated representative, the names of all children who have withdrawn from school, or who have been absent five (5) days (this means an aggregate of five (5) days during the school year and not necessarily five (5) consecutive days) without adequate excuse. Each successive accumulation of five (5) unexcused absences by a student shall also be reported.' TN Law Annotated 49-6-3007 Every effort should be made to have family activity plans conform to the school calendar. Excessive absenteeism is counter productive to a child accomplishing his best. Complete attendance records are maintained by the teacher and by the school office. Parents may access attendance records through the parent portal of TeacherEase."
"School hours are from 8:15 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. for kindergarten through eighth grades. A teacher will be on duty 30 minutes before and 15 minutes after school hours. Students are expected to be on time and seated in the classroom ready to begin work at 8:15 a.m.
"A student who arrives after 8:15 a.m. is considered tardy unless otherwise excused from carline. Repeated unexcused tardiness may result in a parent conference to communicate the detrimental and disruptive effect tardiness can cause for a student and classroom and to seek a remedy. An ongoing issue with unexcused tardiness will result in the reduction of conduct grades and possibly more serious actions if such disregard constitutes a refusal to conform to the standard set by the school."
