Organic Sicilian Marmalades
from Marchesi di San Giuliano

We mentioned in January that some changes were marmaladescoming with the incredible marmalades made by Marchesi di San Giuliano in Sicily. They were completing the transition from conventional fruit to organic - it took some time, but now we're ready to roll out the new line of Organic Marmalades!

While the fruit on their estate in Siracusa, on the eastern coast of Sicily, has been grown the same way for decades, they have now been certified organic. We've loved these marmalades for years now, but this just makes it that much easier to enjoy them!

We've added a new flavor that we think rounds out our selection nicely - the Mandarin has a sweet, not too bitter flavor.  The Red Grapefruit is a favorite of
ours - it's thick and packs that bittersweet punch we love in a marmalade. But we're pretty sure that nothing will ever outsell the Blood Orange - the beautiful color and intense sweet and sour quality make this marmalade pretty much perfect.

From our reviews

"This Mandarin is super, not too-sweet. Try it on toasted bread or raisin bread with

some goat cheese. Soooo good!"

"This marmalade is one of the few I will eat. It is full of fruit flavor and isn't bitter at all.

It also has a thick consistency. Definitely worth the cost."

From last weekend's Wall Street Journal

"What's that they say about old friends being gold? One such pantry pal worth keeping is

Tasmanian Leatherwood Honey. It has a smooth, creamy-yet-spreadable texture and a distinct flavor that's simultaneously floral and fruity. Made from hives in the Leatherwood trees [...], the buttery amber is produced at such low temperatures it qualifies as raw and is completely organic. The process (and its end result) dates back to the 19th century, and its usages can be as traditional as sweetening tea (hot or iced) or as contemporary as accompanying cheese or lamb. Some might like to smear it on toasted brioche and sprinkle it with sea salt."

honeyWe're so happy when the press picks up on one of our products - like this beautiful honey from the Tasmanian Honey Company in the tiny Australian state. We're excited to try it with lamb, as the author suggests, perhaps as a glaze for some marinated chops when grill season rolls around.

And what do our customers think? Well, see for yourself...

"I travel all over the world and seek out honey wherever I go. I'm a hobby beekeeper and honey fanatic. This is by far, the most exquisite honey you will ever try. The Leatherwood flower produces a beautiful, floral honey that is not cloyingly sweet like so many other honeys I've tried."

BACK IN STOCK! French Butter Cookies from Le Traou Mad de Pont-Aven

This gorgeous tin of cookies was such a big item for us this past holiday that we're bringing them back year-round! It only makes sense...why should such a rich, buttery, indulgent cookie be relegated to Christmas!?

The cookies are made with the eponymous butter of Brittany.

The butter is made from cream that is slightly soured, which gives the butter a nutty tanginess. That, plus the fact that the cows of Brittany are roaming the seaside hills and grazing on all manner of flora make this what is considered to be the best butter in the world.

Since 1920, the bakers at Traou Mad de Pont Aven have taken that butter and made these
incredible cookies out of it.
