Tomorrow is a staff development day, and our staff will be engaged in professional learning. At Murwood we continuously work to ensure that all students learn at high levels. Our work together is guided by the following questions;

What is it we want our students to know?
How will we know if our students are learning?
How will we respond when students do not learn?
How will we enrich and extend the learning for students who are proficient?

We will be reviewing our site plan to identify action steps that will help us to continue to improve instruction. The staff development day gives us a chance to extend the learning we do together beyond the work in our twice monthly staff meetings and our weekly collaboration.

KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION TONIGHT

The Walnut Creek School District is pleased to offer Kindergarten Orientation for Parents of Preschool Students Entering Kindergarten. Please join us TONIGHT, February 15, at 7pm at the Walnut Creek Intermediate School Library. Please click here for address and agenda information.

ROPES

A reminder to all 5th graders planning to participate in ROPES your registration form is due in the office by Friday, February 24. If you are still considering participating in the program we have additional information books available in the office.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP CHARITY

Do you have any books your child is no longer reading? Would you like to donate them to a worthy cause? Student Leadership will be collecting gently used books for a school book sale. The books will be sold after school each day, March 28, 29 & 30. Proceeds from the book sale will go to support the Student Leadership Charity for the year, Pennies for Patients, a program that raises money to search for a cure for Leukemia. You can send the used books to school with your child beginning the week of March 12 or you can save them to bring to the PTA Meeting on Tuesday, March 20 at 7:00 PM. There will be an opportunity to swap books at the meeting and any books leftover will be donated to the Student Leadership Book Sale. SPRING 2012 AFTERSCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS NOW ENROLLING!

Registration for the Spring After-School Enrichment Programs ends today. Drop off your registration forms in the office today. Late registrations may be rejected.

The 2012 Spring Afterschool Enrichment Program packet includes class descriptions and registration/waiver forms and can be printed from the Murwood PTA website. You can also pick up a packet in the school office.

WCEF is seeking Executive Committee Members for the 2012-13 school year. Our team of dedicated Executive Committee members provide support in areas that include leadership positions, school site and community relations, special events coordination, fundraising, volunteer recruitment, and marketing communications.

The Friends of the Walnut Creek Library's Quarterly Book Sale is on Saturday, February 18 from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm at the Walnut Creek Library Oak View Room. Following a break from 2:30 - 3:00 pm, we will have the Bag Sale from 3:00 - 5:00 pm. During this time, you may fill a grocery bag with books for $3.00.
