Principal's Message

The Science Fair is coming next week, on Thursday, February 2.  I hope that all of our families will come out to view the fantastic student projects.  It is a wonderful opportunity for students to learn from each other and maybe even be inspired with a project idea for next year's Science Fair.  Supported by our Murwood PTA and organized by our Science Specialist, Erin Sicotte, this is a chance to celebrate Murwood's young scientists.  The Multi-Purpose Room will be open to view projects from 6:00-8:00 PM.

NEWS FROM OUR LIBRARIAN

Hi everyone,

I have great news: the library catalog system can now be accessed by the public. This means that students and parents can search the catalog for materials in the comfort of their own home. The site will be evolving as I learn more about it myself but it is available for basic procedures. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! The link is: http://destiny.wcsd.k12.ca.us

AUCTION NEWS
TICKETS: Help us reach our goal of 200 tickets sold! Get your tickets NOW for the Auction! Don't miss out on the opportunity to support your child's school! Ticket prices are $65/person!

FAMILY DONATIONS: We rely on family donations for our annual auction. If you have a vacation home, time share, season tickets, mileage, etc. that you would like to donate, we could really use it! Not only will it help with our auction but it's a tax deduction. Donation forms are in the office.

RAFFLE! RAFFLE! RAFFLE!: Keep selling those raffle tickets! The raffle drawing is on March 3, during the school auction. If you need more tickets, contact Shelden Hyde at sheldenhyde@astound.net.

HELP SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL: The Murwood PTA is able to provide instructional materials and supplies, technology in the classrooms and library, salaries for science and playground supervisors, support for programs such as MNN, Accelerated Reader and Soul Shoppe, and staff development opportunities largely due to the proceeds of this event. We urge everyone in the Murwood community to attend and support our wonderful school!

DO YOU OWN YOUR OWN BUSINESS?:  Advertising spaces are available in this year's auction program at reasonable rates. If you are interested in an ad space, contact Danielle Scheg at 925-518-6899 or schegd@yahoo.com.

AUCTION MEETING

Our next auction meeting is February 1 at 6:30 pm at Aimee Moss's home. Contact Danielle Scheg at schegd@yahoo.com for more information.

THE PTA IS THINKING AHEAD AND NEEDS YOU!

Would you like to be actively involved with how the PTA spends its money and resources?

Would you like to know a lot more about what is going on around the Murwood campus?

Be a part of the PTA...and better yet, the PTA Board.  Come to any or all of the monthly meetings and consider participating on the board.  The PTA Board has openings each year and the ones available for the 2012-13 are:  Treasurer, Financial Secretary, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President (shared position with someone already in place), 4th Vice President (shared position with someone already in place) and Secretary.  If you are (or know someone who might be) interested in being a part of the board - or if you would like more information about the responsibilities of these positions - please contact Cortny Christensen at cortny.christensen@oracle.com.   All nominations will be presented at the March 20 PTA meeting.

MURWOOD SCIENCE FAIR

We have had an overwhelming response to our Science Fair.  Whether your student is participating or not, you want to mark Thursday, February 2 on your calendar and come to the school.  Prepare to be amazed and even learn a few things too!  Project boards are still available.  Please pick yours up in the office.
