gift guide
Shopper Our halls are decked, the mistletoe is hanging, the stockings are stuffed and we are ready for you this season at Koo de Kir.

In this issue we have "benefits" for our circle of friends (scroll down to learn about our new reusable shopping bag and a special discount only for you), plus an invitation to join our myspace and facebook groups and a VIP pass to our annual Christmas Stroll Cocktail Party.

Wow.  If that's not enough, we also present our annual list of favorite gifts to give and receive

This year our focus is on  meaningful gifts.  These are gifts that either remind us of something special about someone or that will serve to build memories and special moments for the person you give the gift to.  A meaningful gift does not need to be expensive, it only needs to be thoughtful.  Here are some ideas to get you started.

We are open daily and will happily provide complimentary gift wrapping on all in store purchases.

Bisous.

The Gift List

A Living Gift
The Japanese Cedar, also called Sugi Tree, only grows in Japan, North America and Tanzania and is a relative of the Giant Sequoia and the California Redwood.  We love the sentiment behind giving a living gift.  Sustainable, green, good for the environment, thoughtful and long-lasting when cared for.  This tree can be transplanted to a pot and grow in doors but when planted outside, watch out, these guys grow tall!  This is a great corporate gift.

Japanese Cedar Tree $9 - $35 (in store only)
gold stockings
New Traditions
Are you looking for a meaningful gift for a newly married couple?  We love the idea of a pair of stockings that will become a family tradition over the years.  Our stockings this year come to us from John Robshaw.  Each one is hand sewn and block printed.  We have an assortment of styles but shop early because the supply is limited!

Block Printed Cotton Stockings $70 (in store only)

Shopper
In the Bag
This Tano Classic is an absolute must-have for any bag lover.  Our Shopper will glide effortlessly through the day on your shoulder.  Roomy enough for your yoga outfit and all the essentials, the woman you buy this for will be the envy of all her friends.  The crisp lightweight leather is surprisingly durable.  As always with Tano, supplies are limited.

Tano Shopper $195

Graham Flute
Graham Champagne Flutes
We absolutely adore these handmade stems. Each mouth-blown piece of glass by Juliska takes up to 3 people to make.  Give a pair as a gift with a note about toasting friends and creating memorable moments.  Also available:  wine goblets, water goblets, wine tumblers, whiskey glasses.

Graham Champagne Flute $72

taika b&w
Paper Cut and Silhouettes are Hot!
Our favorite Taika dinnerware from Iittala is now available in goes-with-absolutely-anything black and white!   From a pair of coffee mugs to an entire service -- we love Taika.

While in the store, check out our other great black & white accessories such as Walteria Living's Hecho en Mexico plates and lots of other great things.

Taika B&W Plate $40

clock
LED Clock (and it's black & white too!)
Got a friend who always has to have the newest of the new.  Check out this LED clock from Jonas Damon.  The alarm clock consists of four 2 inch tall cubes. Each cube displays one glowing LED digit to make up the time display. Unlike static boxes usually associated with alarm clocks, this interactive collection of changing numbers can be arranged in any configuration.

Roller Stop
Roller Skate Door Stop
Oh the memories...If you're in you mid-30's or older, the roller skate was in your life in some way, even if you can not remember a day before roller blades.  I have great memories of the Balla-Roo Roller Rink Disco Skate Nights with my sister and brother.  Back then, we may have each pretended to not know the other but now, this cast-resin door stop is sure to instigate a bonding hug and more than a few laughs.

Roller Skate Door Stop $95
puyi
Puyi Tea Box
We are not Chinese History scholars (should we even bother to state the obvious?) but we love the Warholesque graphic style of this stately ceramic tea canister with the image of China's "Last Emperor" emblazoned on all four sides.  Bold, stylized, sculptural and functional, this is a great "splurge" gift for the design lover in your life.

Puyi Tea Box $220

Golden Rings
We love helping people select jewelry gifts at Koo de Kir.  It's fun to hear the stories, the likes, the dislikes, the sentiment behind the gift, and we are here to help you make the decision.  Our small but select collection of elegant jewelry, like this stack of seven 18 karat gold vermeil rings by Gorjana, guarantees you a spot in the gift giving hall of fame.

bells
Mindful Gift
Buddhists use the temple bell as a call to mindfulness.  Upon hearing the bell, one who practices mindfulness is called to meditate no matter where he or she is.  We hope these tiny temple bells will serve as a reminder of what the holiday season is truly about: love, family, warmth, kindness and giving of ourselves.  Take a moment in front of your tree to be "in the moment" and escape from the outside stresses so many of us succumb to.

Temple Bell Ornaments Set of 6 $24
