We've been busy at Koo de Kir.  Early 2008 marked the launch of our new dedicated space for our thriving Interior Design practice.  In late winter we invited you in from the cold for a Whisky Tasting event.  Spring came and went as we re-merchandised the store into color groups, integrating our home accessories with our personal accessories to further communicate our sense of style, both in the home and on our bodies.  Late spring saw the quiet release of our new logo and by early summer, Susan Mendrala, a Wellesley Davis Scholar with a serious marketing and business background joined our team as the Manager of our Retail Division.

As we roll quietly into the end of summer, we invite you to visit us over the next two weeks and take advantage of our sale, tax free savings and winning personalities...knowing us (and we hope you do) there will probably be a little "something something" for you to sip on while you shop...we look forward to seeing you.

Meet Susan Mendrala, Manager of the Retail Division

Managing with Style

Prior to her new role as the Manager of Koo's Retail Division Susan was a member of the Sales & Marketing team with The Bank of New York Mellon. A passion for retail, a drive to deliver exceptional customer service, and a love of gorgeous things is what brings Ms. Mendrala to Koo de Kir. Among Susan's favorite things, "Gorjana, Tano, our sheepskin rugs, Sybaritic Placemats, Juliska ceramic and their stunning glassware...to name a few!"

Whether it was between Shakespeare and American Literature class at Wellesley, or between meetings at BNYMellon, Susan quickly developed a reputation as the go-to girl for all things style. She's helped to decorate dorm rooms, planned elaborate corporate affairs, and offered advice on what to wear, where to shop, and what to give - to her friends, classmates, and collegues alike.

She will now be here to offer that advice to you, accompanied by Koo de Kir's signature service with a smile.

Koo de Kir Launches New Interior Design Studio in Beacon Hill

You may have noticed that our business has expanded.  In February we relocated our thriving Interior Design studio from the back office of our retail space to a gorgeous store front location just around the corner from Koo de Kir.  At the same time we introduced our new logo and tag line:  Live With Style.  Give With Style.

The local press certainly considered this a newsworthy event.  From May through June we were lucky enough to have feature stories on our new studio in Boston Magazine, The Boston Sunday Globe Magazine, Stuff@Night and The Improper Bostonian Magazine.  On June 17, 2008 The Improper Bostonian Magazine together with Grey Goose Vodka helped us launch a "Summer of Style" with an intimate cocktail event to celebrate the opening of the new studio space.

Our project roster is jam packed with exciting work.  On our boards now is the re-design and renovation of Pomodoro Restaurant in the North End, the re-vamping of Matt Murphy's Gastro Pub in Brookline Village, a Villa in the Kingdom of Bahrain, a 6 floor townhouse in Beacon Hill, a loft in Central Square and so much more.

Best of New England 2008 Home Accessories

New England Travel Says:

"Kristine Irving's busy store has catered to Boston's design-concious denizens for more than a decade, offering modern accessories aplenty. Some are seriously useful, like the almost-always-sold-out petal-shaped stacked ceramic nesting bowls. Others are delightfully whimsical: ceramic Hostess cupcakes and porcelain "crinkled" coffee mugs that resemble crumpled water cooler cups."
Boston's Best Bridal Registry 2008
On the Registry Radar

We may not have the most technologically advanced Bridal Registry (rest assured, we are working hard to improve it...look for a new website and new features soon) but we do have great service, gorgeous products and a personal touch you just won't get with the big guys.

Here's what the Improper Bostonian Magazine had to say about Koo de Kir in their 2008 Boston's Best Issue:

"Sure, Crate & Barrel and Bloomingdale's have the staples covered. But you don't want the same stuff as all your married friends. For funkier pieces like lotus nesting bowls, Koo de Kir is the place, with popular lines including Juliska tablewear and John Robshaw linens. The Beacon Hill boutique, owned and curated by interior designer Kristine Irving, features a collection of home furnishings hip enough for now and classic enough for when you start to entertain."

If you are getting married and are interested in registering with us we'd love to meet you.  Please contact Susan Mendrala smendrala@koodekir.com or by phone at 617-723-8111to schedule a personal consultation.
Best of Boston Home 2008 - Home Accessories
bob2008
From Boston Magazine's Boston Home:

"Beacon Hill, land of brownstones and Brahamins, could have stayed stuffy. But Kristine Irving shook it up a decade ago when she opened this contemporary home shop, finally making cutting-edge design safe for bluebloods. Here you can find sleek Eva Zeisel vases, sheepskin rugs, and photographer Jefferson Hayman's work. Irving's avant-garde accessories continue to keep the Hill au courant, and she's added an interior decorating business next door, too."
