FertiCoat is multi-purpose product designed by Omnia as both a superior granular coating as well as an effective additive to liquid fertilisers such as UAN. The addition of FertiCoat to UAN has tangible benefits for UAN applied to the soil or as a foliar application.
The addition of FertiCoat to soil applied UAN ensures essential Nitrogen remains in the root zone and is not wasted by volatilisation or leaching. It also buffers the strong N content in a way that is friendlier to microbes and mycorrhiza.
Nitrogen uptake via the root system is also increased with the addition of Ferticoat.
UAN is commonly used as an effective foliar application in crops such as wheat. The downside to this is that burn sometimes occurs under certain conditions which damages the crop and its potential to produce. When FertiCoat is added to foliar UAN solutions the possibility of leaf burn or scorch is dramatically reduced. Foliar uptake is increased by the Humic and fulvic contents of FertiCoat and volatilisation is minimised.
The photos on the right show the comparison between crops treated with foliar UAN. On the top, no FertiCoat is added and on the bottom FertiCoat was used. Leaf burn reduces the ability of any plant to function at its best, photosynthesis is reduced and in many cases yield is ultimately affected. The lack of burn also means that potentially higher rates of UAN may be used where required with FertiCoat added. Uptake is increased, damage is minimised and the addition of FertiCoat has paid!
The graph below shows some results of our trial work relating to foliar N uptake with and without FertiCoat. N is a key driver of yield in many crops and without a doubt the amount of N taken up from applied products results in higher yields and more profit for the grower. See the yield data below relating to the same trial!
