An IP Rating or Ingress Protection Rating is a code that classifies and rates the degrees of protection provided against the intrusion of solid objects (including body parts like hands and fingers), dust, accidental contact, and water in mechanical casings and electrical enclosures.
The first digit in an IP numbers rates the protection level against solids. The second digit rates the protection against liquids.

Manual Formulation Made Easy
A large discrete automotive manufacturer located in Upstate New York was experiencing challenges with costly minor ingredients. These challenges ranged from inventory shortages and consumption recording through traceability of the lot number being utilized in a given formulation.
Because of the flexibility of existing METTLER TOLEDO equipment in use, Brady Systems was able to utilize the display of XP Balances as the Operator Interface to guide the operator through the formulation process. As part of the solution provided, ScalTrak was incorporated to control the manual formulation process and capture the consumption data. ScalTrak, a PC based software application, allocates existing inventory with the corresponding lot number to a released production order and the operator simply follows the prompts to complete the order on the XP Balance.
The solution also utilized 2D Bar Code Scanners to easily capture the data contained on the raw ingredient label from the receiving process.
Integration was a key component of the fully implemented solution as all of the formulations were provided by the Customer's ERP system. Additionally, all of the consumption data, work instructions and weighed components, were written back to the ERP system.
