August 2012

Greetings!

Another hot month is behind us, and I'm almost looking forward to the fall and cooler temps. But for now I need to make sure I'm acclimated to the heat for my next few races. Check out my latest article below on how to "Race in the Heat".

If you are racing IMFL or IMAZ, you have between 12-14 weeks to get ready. That's plenty of time of course, but if you have a question sign up to win a free 15 minute consult with one of our coaches! No obligation on your part and we are here to help you have the best race you can.

In this month's edition of "The Extra Mile" our Mix1 Athlete of the Month is Toyin! Toyin is a Dr. from Boston and he just finished IM Lake Placid! He's coached by D3 Coach Simon Butterworth and the two of them had a great plan for IM Lake Placid.

In addition, check out our article this month on 'Training Consistency'. It's the one thing we do enough of in order to get better. It's the easiest thing to get done so make the most of your training. Be consistent!

Check out our new website at www.D3Multisport.com! Tell us what you think and let us know how we can make it better. We have a few more special features coming soon, so stay tuned.

Be sure to follow us on Twitter (D3_Mike_Ricci) and on Facebook @ Facebook/D3Multisport.

See you at the races!

Remember, if you need a training plan for an upcoming race, please check out Quarterly Customized Plan options! They are effective and efficient!   We're here to help make your 2012 season the best that it can be!

Enjoy the weather and train happy!

The Key to Long Distance Triathlon: Consistency

by Coach Mike Ricci

August 2012

I have the belief that, as the duration of your event increases the training becomes more simplistic. Again, most of us are training for a 10-17 hour day of aerobic exercise.

Many athletes are under the impression that there is a magical approach to training for an Ironman. The truth is there are no "magic workouts", supplements or shortcuts that will make you a better Ironman triathlete. Athletes that excel at the Ironman are those that put in the time and have consistency in their training.!   Read More...

Racing a Triathlon in the Heat!

August 2012

Across North America, racing in July, August and early September can be challenging due to the temperature. Racing during these months usually means you are performing in hot and humid conditions. Certainly training in this type of environment is optimal for conditioning your system to the stress. However, for those of us coming from a milder climate there are a few things we can do to prepare to race our best.  Read more...
