Welcome to our October newsletter. With Fall officially here we are getting ready for shorter days, cooler nights, pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, witches and goblins! Our Halloween treats and autumnal decorations are ready for you, so come on in.
We have added more new items, both handmade and antique. We picked up many superb vintage items on our New England trip. Whimsical handmade clocks from Paper Wings Studio, new planters and stemware from Cindy Teyro, and a line of notepads we designed just for you! The antiques we brought back range from Christmas pins and decoration to Halloween pumpkin lights to Fraternal organization medals to hundreds of old documents and letters.
Please note that we have a trip planned the weekend of Oct 20th, so we will be closed for a few days.

Only a Few Days Left to Register for the Vintage Jewelry Class
 Registration is closing soon for this class. We still have openings, but you must register by Monday, October 8th. Our antique class, Collecting Vintage Jewelry, will be held on Tuesday nights, October 9th through November 6th. So sign-up now and plan to join us. More information ... Antique Treasures from New England
We brought back quite a load of vintage treasures from our trip to New England. We spent the first few days at Brimfield searching through the largest outdoor antique market in the USA. Then we went up to Maine, where we scoured shops and markets for vintage items to bring back to Los Gatos. We did well.
The list is long ... a half dozen Beatrix Potter figurines ... buttons, lace and trims ... vintage compasses, opera glasses and a mini-telescope ... some fantastic old fans and hankies ... several outstanding antique miniature frames ... fraternal medals (Masons, Knights of Pytheus and Knights of the Templar included) ... a few dozen Wade figures from old Red Rose Tea boxes ... miniature books ... vintage Halloween, Christmas and Valentine goodies ... and more.
We did not forget our crafting friends, as we brought back several hundred old letters, envelopes, documents and cards from as far back as the 1870s!

We have designed several notepads and have had them printed locally. There are two Los Gatos pads, two Paris pads and a cute little "Heartman" pad. These come in three sizes -- large 8.5x5.5", medium 5.5x4.25" and small 4.25x2.75". They are due in from the printer any day now and we will post on our blog when they arrive. Great stocking-stuffers, gifts or souvenirs of Los Gatos.

The online catalog of the 2001 John Johnson exhibition, A Nation of Shopkeepers, Trade Ephemera from 1654 to the 1860s is a terrific site, filled with images from the exhibit as well as numerous links to further information. This site is presented by the Bodleian Libraries, the integrated library service of the University of Oxford.
