Greetings!
Thank you to all of you for your wonderful support and generosity. The pledges have been received and calculated and we have received promises equaling three-quarters of our goal. I will be sending out invoices. As soon as your payments are received I will send receipts for your 2011 tax records . Please remember, you can pay them with one check, three checks or with your credit card. If you have any questions or would like to set-up a personal payment plan, please talk to me.

VALENTINE'S DAY
Valentine's Day is Monday, February 14th. If your child would like to exchange Valenetines with their classmates, please have them sign and deliver them to school on the 14th. Please do not address them to individual children. We will help the children pass them out that day at school. The morning children need 27 valentines and the afternoon need 19 signed valentines. Kim Hendrickson will be a classroom volunteer for the morning class and provide a special snack. If your child does not attend school on Monday mornings but would like to that day, please let me know and we will have them come in as a make-up for a missed snow day. The afternoon class will pass out their valentines that same day. If you would like to volunteer to provide a special valentine snack or activity, please let me know.

REGISTRATION FOR 2011-2012 This past week, we sent out registration forms for returning students for next year's enrollment. It would be very helpful if you returned your forms as soon as possible so we can begin planning for next year.
Kindergarten parents, we are beginning to put together plans for next year so your day is more manageable. Again, I would like to tell you how valuable this year is to your child in their growth and preparation for first grade. Please talk with us if you have any questions. |

VOLUNTEERS IN THE CLASSROOM
In the hall on the parent bulletin board you will find the schedule for volumteering in our classroom. Please choose the day(s) that work best for you to help out. Your children love sharing their classroom with you and will guard you from sharing too much of yourself with the other children. It's a wonderful time to learn what your children do while at school and also a time to see how they are in a different environment. |
SNOW MAKE-UP DAYS
This winter, ICMS has had a few snow days. We are offtering Friday, February 25th and March 11 as make-up days. We will place a signup sheet on the back desk for you to indicate your child's attendance. Please be sure to sign up as we need a mininmum of 12 children in order to ask the staff to come in those days. |
PRESIDENTS' DAY
We will have a long weekend break in February celebrating our Presidents. There will be no public school February 18th through the 22nd. ICMS will follow the public school calendar and not have school these days. ENJOY!
|
SPRING BREAK Spring Break is early this year. March 28th through April 1 will be Spring Break for both the public schools and ICMS. Make your plans and have lots of fun. We will return to school on April 4th and will have a long work period without breaks--8 weeks until Memorial DAy. Yahoo!! The entire staff is looking forward to such a long work period without breaks--- your children should make huge leaps! Won't it be wonderful if this was the norm for our school year instead of a huge exception. |

PLAYGROUND CLEAN-UP AND STRUCTURE
As the weather improves with the early arrival of Spring (according to the Groundhog) we will be scheduling work parties to clean up our playground and build or install a covered area for the children to play during the rain. Please watch your email for information and tools needed. We will have sign up sheets for you to volunteer your help. If we all work together, it should be quick and easy for all. |

Love and Logic
How to love your children and still be a parent!
We will be offering a Love and Logic Parenting course this Spring. It is our hope to do it on 2 Saturdays - 4 hours each. It's an opportunity to learn some new successful parenting techniques and to hear you are not as alone as you think.
Please sign up if you are interested and I will be in touch with you regarding the schedule. |

Flu and Colds Hit ICMS
Parent Manual Review
Both our morning and afternoon classes have been hit hard with the "flu" and or colds. Many of the children are returning to school too soon and are exposing their classmates and missing more school days. Please keep your children home until they are truly well! Below please read a review of our policy for illness. Thank you -- the staff thanks you and your fellow parents thank you!
- a fever within the past 24 hours - keep home for 24 hours after the temperature remains normal.
- rash or questionable bumps and/or red spots
- green/yellow discharge from nose, eyes, mouth or ears...
- loose stools or diarrhea more than once a day
- vomiting or stomach flu of any kind
- unexplained fatique or crankiness -- you know your child
- PLEASE KEEP YOUR HOME 24 HOURS AFTER ALL SYMPTOMS HAVE DISAPPEARED
If you have any questions about the above requirements, please ask. |
|
Enjoy the many holidays coming up in the next two months. Please remember we are available to schedule conferences to answer any concerns you may have about your children or any questions about next year.
We look forward to working with you and your children the remainder of the school year and on into next year.
Sincerely,
Joan Gillanders Island Children's Montessori School
