The Little Wooden Box

Who has seen the little wooden box? At Family Night Supper, Ms. Prisby collected money to buy a new gong for the Hendricks music program. Unfortunately, the collection box was left unattended for a short time and has disappeared. Please . . . if anyone has information regarding the box, please contact Ms. Prisby or Mr. Rhoads in the front office. Thank you.

A Message from HAEPTA President

I'd like to take a moment to thank you all for your participation in this school year's programs, special events and our fundraising efforts. We have had a record turnout at Family Fitness Night, Family Night Supper, Campus Clean Up, the Veteran's Day Program, etc. It is so nice to see all our Hendricks families coming together and uniting for common goals - our children's educational future, their social well-being and our community fellowship. December and January will be a nice break from the busy school calendar but I'm looking forward to seeing you all on the down-slide of the 2011-2012 school year!

Hendricks Art Club Lives On!
KidzArt has Saved the Day
In recent years, Art Club struggled to secure long-term volunteers and encountered troublesome logistical issues. In an effort to provide a relevant resource for families, we decided to bring our students a superior enrichment program with quality instruction by an experienced, certified instructor. What a great decision! Participants and their parents have nothing but good things to say. Take a look at the pictures and ask them!!!

Enroll you student now for the next session, which begins January 9. Look for the registration form online or in your student's folder.

Melody Makers

Songs of the Season

The Melody Makers "cheer squad" did a great job of pumping up the crowd at the Family Night Tailgate.

As the finale to Session I, be sure to tune in to WTLV 12 (and ABC 5) Songs of the Season on Tuesday, December 20 to see the Melody Makers performing their favorite Christmas songs and a new original arrangement of three familiar tunes. This is Melody Makers third year as a part of the program. All of the performers will be seen in a special airing on Christmas Day.

Session II will be January 10 through February 28 and includes a performance at Reading with the Stars and another performance TBA. Space is still available. Registration forms are available in the front office, or online in mid December.

Thanks for Lending a Hand

A Successful Campus Clean-up Day!

Thank you to all who helped with our first campus weed and clean up day! There were about 60 students, parents and community members who helped to make out campus look really beautiful for the Veteran's Day event. Look out for posts about our next weed and clean up day in February!

Outgrown Hendricks Shirts?

We Want Your Hand-Me-Downs!

If you have clean Hendricks T-shirts that your children have outgrown, please bring them for us to share with those who need a change of clothes or simply cannot afford to buy one. Donations are accepted in the front office. Thank you.

At Hendricks Avenue Elementary School, students receive more than the standard education that our district's funds can provide. The school's standard of excellence is made possible not only by its dedicated teachers and staff but through the efforts of you and your HAEPTA.

Sincerely,

Hendricks Avenue Elementary Parent Teacher Association
