Box Tops/Labels for Education News
Winners for the Newest Grade-Level Contest are . . .
The 2nd graders have done it again! Between January 1 - February 11, they collected a total of 2753 Tops & Labels. Each 2nd grader will be rewarded with a popsicle and an extra 15 minutes of recess one day during the week before Spring Break. Also, the individual class contest winners for January were Mrs. Buchanan's 4th grade class (1st place) and Mrs. Lombana's 2nd grade class (2nd place). Lastly, thanks to all the families for collecting tops and labels. Coach McGlynn recently used some Labels points to buy new P.E. equipment that the kids will be sure to enjoy.

Innisbrook Fundraiser Winners
King and Queen of the Jungle
Thank you so much to all of the families who supported Hendricks' Innisbrook fundraiser helping to raise $18,000 for our school. This past month has been busy rewarding the students for those efforts. First, we recognized the King and Queen of the Jungle for a Day - the students who sold the most items. Liam and Lauren started the school day on the morning news, enjoyed a yummy lunch of their choice and spent some special time with Mr. B.R. Then on Valentine's Day, those students who sold 30 or more items traveled around town in two stretch limos. What fun! And those students selling five or more items participated in a silly string assault on Coach McGlynn on Friday, February 18. Thanks again for making our fundraiser such a success. It couldn't be done without you.

Teacher of the Year Hendricks' Kristina Fox, In her Own Words . . .
I am honored to be Hendricks Avenue Teacher of the Year for 2010-2011. Over the past seven years I have worked hard to help my students be successful. I continue to pursue professional development to help me continue to grow as an educator. I love what I do and I want to do the best that I can for all of my students.
I am lucky to be at such a wonderful school, with amazing students and resourceful parents. I look forward to many more years at Hendricks. I want to thank everyone who has helped me become a successful teacher and who has believed in me! Thank you to the Teacher of the Year committee and my amazing faculty and staff for allowing me to serve as Teacher of The Year!

E-Eagles - Recycling News What has a tree done for you lately? Those short and tall, woody stemmed plants with leaves or needles are true wonders of nature. From the air we breathe, to a 2'X4' in your home's wall, the tree has proven to be "humankind's best friend." Consider planting a tree this Spring!
Thank you to Hendricks Avenue Elementary and our neighbors! This January, 2900 pounds of recycled paper was put in the PaperRetriever bin. Four and 1/3 cubic yards of landfill space was saved. Keep up the good work! Thank you to all the students and teachers who recycle everyday and to the E-Eagles who collect the paper each Tuesday after school.

Keep Jacksonville Beautiful
Hendricks Adds Another Award
Hendricks Avenue has added another honor to its name. Our school has been awarded the Keep Jacksonville Beautiful Award in the Elementary School category. This award recognizes individuals, groups and organizations who have had a significant impact on preserving and protecting Jacksonville's natural environment.
Hendricks was selected because of its recycling efforts with E-Eagles, its newsletter transfer to paperless communication, its campus beautification programs, etc.

At Hendricks Avenue Elementary School, students receive more than the
standard education that our district's funds can provide. The school's
standard of excellence is made possible not only by its dedicated
teachers and staff but through the efforts of you and your HAEPTA.

Hendricks Avenue Elementary Parent Teacher Association
