E-Eagles Green Tip
|
Walking or biking to school protects the environment and
your health. Skip the car ride and reduce the
amount of air pollutants you create! Safety tips: When you
walk to school, use sidewalks. Cross any busy streets using the signals at the cross walk, or allow the
crossing guards to stop traffic and guide you across the street safely. If you ride your bike, wear your
helmet, stop for all stop signs, and obey all other traffic signs and
signals.

Meet the Masters Volunteers Needed for Art Criticism Program
Meet the Masters (MTM) is an arts education and criticism program facilitated through the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens and is an excellent way to familiarize children with different types of fine art. Art criticism in the classroom challenges observation and critical thinking skills as well as helps build self-confidence and the desire to participate in class discussions. Feedback from volunteers participating in MTM has been phenomenal!
As frequent as your schedule allows, you can lead a classroom in a 15-minute discussion on a piece of art -- a script and guidelines are provided, and students usually lead the discussion. To find out more and to volunteer, contact Candace Singleton and Lisa Hale.

Hendricks' Helps to Save Our Earth Environmental Eagles (E-Eagles) "Green" Things Up

cafeteria. Look for the red tub.
Parents and Students:Bring your newspapers, catalogs and other paper to the green
and yellow PaperRetriever dumpster on the San Jose Blvd. side of the school.

Accelerated Reader A Quick Overview of This Great Program
The Accelerated Reader (AR) Program promotes reading with fun incentives. After a student reads an AR book, they can complete a quiz (usually five-10 questions) to test their comprehension of the book. Throughout the school year earned points are compiled and students are given the opportunity to shop at the AR store for fun goodies. For a more comprehensive overview of this program, please visit hendrickspta.com. Contact Meloni Elkins with questions or to volunteer.
