Grilled Lobster
Lobsters cooked on the grill have a wonderful smoky flavor, and they are easier to eat than traditional boiled whole lobsters.
How to:
Select live lobsters that weigh approx. 1-1/2 pounds.
In a large pot, bring about two gallons of water to a boil. Parboil lobsters in a covered pot for 4 to 5 minutes.
When lobsters are cool enough, turn them upside down on a cutting board, and slice them in half lengthwise from the tail to the top of the head. Use a sharp pair of kitchen shears to open the claws only on the side that will face up on the grill. You can use just about any kind of grill to cook lobsters, including gas and charcoal grills. Try using wood charcoal for the flavor it imparts.
Place each half lobster, shell side down, on a grill that has been pre-heated to medium temperature.
Baste the exposed lobster meat with melted butter or oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. For added flavor, use seasoned oils, or add garlic, herbs and spices or lemon or lime juice to the butter.
Cover lobsters with a shallow roasting pan to ensure quick and even cooking. Remove the cover periodically to baste the lobsters and to check cooking progress.
Grill lobsters for about 10 minutes. Be sure to check the meat at the thickest part of the tail in order to determine that lobsters are completely cooked. When the meat is white and opaque, your grilled lobsters are ready to eat.
Serve grilled lobster with melted drawn butter and a slice of lemon.

Fish Facts |
In my recent search around the internet for something interesting for "Fish Facts" I came across the story of Ming the Clam. Ming who gave his life for science was actually found to be over 400 years old at his (or her) death. Ming is the nickname given to a specimen of quahog clam, and is the oldest living animal ever discovered.
Judging by the annual growth rings on the clam's shell, similar to growth rings of a tree, Ming was believed to be in the region of 405-410 years old when the clam was dredged up off the coast of Iceland in 2007.

The clam was named after the Ming Dynasty due to its age and was already born when William Shakespeare was writing plays. As astounding as that info is, I find it more amazing that "Ming" actually has his own Facebook Page and at least 2 poems and a eulogy written for him!
Scientists are hoping the discovery of Ming will help aid in researching the aging process, and how some animals 'escape' old age.
