The Delgado Community College Alumni Association invites you to celebrate and honor our 2011 Outstanding Delgado Alumni on Tuesday October 25, 2011 6:30 pm- 8:30 pm at the Circles of Excellence Dinner and Award Presentation.

Guest speaker will be Michael Hecht, President of

90th Anniversary Picnic

Delgado Alumna, Irma Thomas, and the Top Cats band entertain the crowd at the recent 90th Anniversary Delgado Family Picnic.

Grand Opening Ceremony for

New Children's Center

Grand Opening ceremonies were recently held for Delgado's new child care center. The Joey Georgusis Center for Children will provide state-of-the-art child care services and program training for students, faculty and staff at the City Park Campus. The 8,500-square-foot facility replaces child care facilities destroyed by the effects of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Approximately 85 percent of the child care spaces are reserved for children or dependents of Delgado students, while the others are offered to children or dependents of Delgado faculty and staff.

Thanks in part to the generous donation of Joseph Georgusis in memory of his son, Joseph James "Joey" Georgusis, the child care center will once again be operational.

There are now six new posts about Delgado's history on the blogsite created to promote and support Delgado's 90th Anniversary celebration in 2011-2012.

the 90th Anniversary blogsite includes information about projects to rebuild and restore Delgado's archives and to create a Delgado Family Tree.

A unique and always-changing aspect of the new blogsite is an ongoing series of stories about the history of Delgado, beginning before its opening in 1921 and continuing with every decade through the present day. Events, issues and people from Delgado's past are presented along with reflections on New Orleans and national history and culture during the past 90 years. Archival pictures illustrate each story on the blogsite.
