Circles of Excellence Outstanding Alumni

     The Alumni Association recently honored seven Delgado alumni at the annual Circles of Excellence Outstanding Alumni dinner. Andrea's Restaurant was filled with family, friends, faculty, administrators and alumni, all there to support our honorees. 

     Mr. James Hines, 2008 Circles recipient, provided the invocation. Guest speaker Gil McGregor with the New Orleans Hornets Broadcast Team gave an empowering speech which reinforced the importance of being involved and giving back to your community.  Honorees were presented with awards by Dr. Ron D Wright, Chancellor of Delgado and Ms. Tanza Sterling, Alumni Association President. A video of the honorees, produced by Delgado TV production students, offered everyone an insight as to how Delgado impacted each of their lives.

     The honorees were nominated by faculty, staff, and alumni, for their outstanding work in their field and for their contributions to the community.  They were chosen by a selection committee comprised of alumni, faculty and staff.  The 2010 Circles of Excellence Outstanding Alumni are: Nancy Arceneaux, Lisa George, Charles Miller, III, Joseph Omner, Zenobia Pressley, Martina Musmeci Salles and Abby Porché-Zachery. The Alumni Association is a great way to stay involved with other alumni and the college. The association is currently looking for members to become involved with the association Board. The Alumni Association Board meets on the second Tuesday of every month in the City Park Student Life Center.  The Board is responsible for planning social and networking events,               and awarding alumni scholarships.

Help a Delgado student and earn a tax deduction for yourself! Many Delgado students have families, work full-time and still maintain high academic success.  The Alumni Association supports and recognizes high achieving students by providing $1,000 academic scholarships. The Alumni Association will  provide five $1,000 scholarships this upcoming 2010/2011 academic year.  In order to continue to offer these meaningful scholarships for years to come, we need your help!  Your donation to the alumni scholarship fund will provide hard-working students critical funds for tuition, fees and books and will give you a tax deduction for the 2010 tax year.
