The Vitamin Review - Quercetin for Allergies

dandelionQuercetin to the rescue!  Allergies and asthma are conditions most commonly triggered by air or food-borne allergens. After these allergens are absorbed in to the blood stream, they cause the the immune system to produce billions of molecules of the allergic antibody IgE that combine with mast cells or basophils.

Quercetin has a strong affinity for mast cells and basophils. It helps to stabilize their cell membranes, preventing them from releasing pro-inflammatory, allergy-symptom-causing histamine into the blood stream and surrounding tissues.

Typically, 500 mg of quercetin, three times daily, is sufficient to decrease allergic symptoms in most cases of allergies and many cases of asthma.
