A Note from Kim

Traveling for market and finding great new things for the store is the best part of my job. The problem is I do not often take time for anything but work. On my last trip to New York in May I took some personal time to do some things that have been on my 'to do' list for a while and to revisit some of my favorite spots. I met up with some of my family there so it was a perfect time to explore the city a bit.
Going to the 9/11 Memorial Site was number one on our list. I have been to Ground Zero a number of times in the past but it has been a few years and I did not realize how much progress has been made there. I am always amazed how close to the surface my emotions are regarding that tragic day. I think they always will be.
The memorial site is so well designed, a perfect place for reflection. There is significance in everything from the placement of the reflecting pools, the placement of the names of the victims, the Survivor Tree and so much more. I encourage all of you to visit. Another highlight was Eataly! Mario Battali has created an emporium for all things Italian. From pasta to soap, chocolate to cooking utensils, if you love Italy you will love Eataly.
There are several 'themed' dining areas and we chose the pasta area, of course. The decision on what to order was not easy and in the end it was 4 different pastas shared family style. Perfect for our group and no one was disappointed. The last thing I will share with you this time is The Boat House restaurant in Central Park. Tavern on the Green, sadly now closed for dining, has always been the more famous restaurant in the park, but my favorite is The Boat House. Located on the tip of the lake in Central Park it is a charming oasis is the middle of the bustling city. The atmosphere is truly magical and the food is divine. It was so nice to take some time away from work to enjoy the city. I felt re-energized and had a terrific market. Can't wait to show you all the great things coming in.
Stay tuned.
