The scenic Plantation is beautifully trimmed in its holiday finest for the annual Christmas Open House, Sunday, December 5th, noon to 5PM.
Visitors are welcomed into the decorated 1850 manor house for a self-guided tour, free of charge. The museum shop is open and offers a unique array of quality gifts, handmade by local artisans.
After touring the manor house wander down to the Cultural Arts Center and meet a very special guest, Mr. Ivey Hayes. North Carolina born, raised and educated Ivey Hayes' beautiful images will be on display and available for purchase. These are great gifts representative of our home state. You'll find more local vendors selling music, prints, books, ornaments, Christmas crafts, peppered pickles, jewelry, vintage lace, birdhouses, wreaths, and more.
Talent on display! There's more inside the Cultural Arts Center. You'll find the Cape Fear Woodcarvers, Cape Fear Rug Hookers and Carolina Blue Bee Quilters sharing their talent and techniques in live demonstrations throughout the afternoon. Complimentary hot cocoa and cookies will be served.
Little ones will find Santa and Mrs. Claus at the tenant house. While Santa listens to children sharing their dreams of Christmas treasures, Mrs. Claus tells stories in front of the fireplace.
The entire family can enjoy a hayride through pristine Abbey Nature Preserve, accompanied by Christmas music. The hayride is $5 per person.
As Poplar Grove's way of saying Merry Christmas and Thank You to the community for its support, admission is free today. Hayrides are $5 per person. Donations to the non-profit Poplar Grove Foundation are gratefully appreciated and are tax deductible.
Come join us for an old fashioned and simply-wonderful prelude to the Christmas season.
