Project is Complete at the Farmers Market

Danny Jones of Scotts Hill and his granddaughter Samantha Sholar test the new ramp.

Poplar Grove had yet another reason to celebrate at the Farmers Market this week.  Earlier this year the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission awarded the plantation a grant for farmers market facilities.  Work on the new, free standing building progressed quickly over the steamy, summer months.  The project is now complete and was opened to the public for the first time on Wednesday.

The new, wood-sided building provides accessible bathrooms for shoppers and vendors in a convenient location, right behind the market.   There's also storage space for farmers market equipment such as tents, tables, and the yellow wagons customers use each week while shopping.

Poplar Grove expresses it's sincere appreciation for the support its received from the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission(NCTTFC).  Through the NCTTFC grant program this much needed building was made possible.
