Lame-Duck Congress Can Help Feed Hungry Kids
As Congress winds down its lame-duck session, among its unfinished business is the reauthorization of the Child Nutrition Act. The Senate unanimously passed S. 3307, and the House has a chance to pass the bill before the end of the year and send it to the President. The purpose of the bill is: improve school meals; support farmers through Farm to School programs; address skyrocketing childhood obesity rates; and feed more hungry children. The Hunger Action Center is sending a letter to House Education and Labor Committee Chairman George Miller and other congressional leaders, urging them to take action on the bill. The Center is asking national, state and local organizations to sign on to the letter by COB Friday, November 27. What better way to begin the Holiday Season than to lend your organization's support to healthy food for kids!
