Since 1999, Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) has recognized outstanding and innovative land-use, transportation and air quality planning, programs and activism through its SACOG Salutes! awards.

This year's awards will be presented at the Rural-Urban Connections Strategy forum on December 10th at the Sacramento Convention Center.

Ubuntu Green is supporting the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy challenge to AAA's call to redirect funding for biking and walking facilities back into the federal highway system.

AAA has blamed the $89 billion annual highway fund shortfall on federal investments that have helped build 19,000 miles of bicycle and pedestrian trails and sidewalks across the U.S. AAA President, Dan Gagnon has proposed directing the total amount spent on bike and ped projects - less than $1 billion - back into the federal highway system.  Earlier this year AAA Mid-Atlantic denounced the installation of bike lanes on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C.
