Workshop: Food Access in South Sacramento
Ubuntu Green is hosting a workship to brainstorm how to build a better understanding of food access in South Sacramento neighborhoods. In this workshop we will: identify significant food access issues and players in South Sacramento neighborhoods; create a visual map and intereactive representation of power and opportunity for access to healthy food; and, build a valuable tool to be used for future community engagement around land use and food access in South Sacramento.

Metropolitan Transportation Plan 2035 Workshops
SACOG will be hosting nine regional workshops to receive comments and input on the update to the MTP2035 adn the Sustainable Communities Strategy. Everyone is encouraged to attend; no previous meeting participation or transportation planning experience is needed.
Through the MTP workshops, residents help shape how money is spent on public transit, bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, community and road improvements. While the MTP2035 will forecast funding in a 27 year plan, the plan informs how money is spent today.

Ubuntu Green Petitions Governor on Key Legislation
As the September 30th deadline approaches for Governor Schwarzenegger to sign or veto bills passed by the CA Legislature, Ubuntu Green has voiced support on a number of issues. Ubuntu Green has written to the Governor to ask him to sign bills to: increase the use of food stamps at farmer's markets; expand the definition of transit-oriented developments; include disadvantaged communities in Safe Routes to School applications; and to ensure that housing plans meet community needs.
