Sustainable Design and Green Building Toolkit
The
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) developed the Sustainable Design
and Green Building Toolkit for Local Governments to help identify and
remove barriers to sustainable design and green building within the permitting
process. This Toolkit addresses the
codes/ordinances that would affect the design, construction, renovation, and
operation and maintenance of a building and its immediate site. There are two sections to the Toolkit: the
first section is an Assessment Tool and Resource Guide. The second section is a guide to developing an
Action Plan for implementing changes within a community's permitting process. Please link to the toolkit here.

Create Healthier Schools and Communities
The
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) is seeking input through a special online forum on the best ways to implement its six
policy priorities for reversing the childhood obesity epidemic by 2015. The discussion forum will be open until August 30, so add your voice to the conversation today!
To post on the
RWJF discussion forum, you must register through a very brief process. The discussion forum consists of six topic
threads - one for each policy priority. RWJF
staff members are acting as hosts and will post messages frequently to respond
to comments and offer their own thoughts.

No on Proposition 23 Campaign
The No on
Proposition 23 Campaign is gearing up with a rapid response speaker's bureau
composed of environmental advocates and experts. The speaker's bureau will counter arguments
by the Texas Big Oil companies, which are intent on nullifying AB 32, California's landmark law to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions. Ubuntu Green
is a member of the incredibly diverse No on Prop 23 coalition, and UG's
President and CEO Charles L. Mason, Jr. is part of the speaker's bureau. Check out the campaign toolkit,
which is loaded with talking point, fact sheets and more!
