Shelley Supports Building Colorful Courts

Colorful court In an article for Squash UK, Bob Hanscom continues his support for colorful courts and references the support of World Squash chief Andrew Shelley.

According to the article, adding color may improve the look as well as improve the teaching/learning/playing environment.

Was Olympic Bid Sabotaged by U.S.?

Olympic Rings Bob Kingsley was Associate Director of U.S. Squash from 1988-1991. In a guest commentary for PressConnects.com, Kingsley says during his tenure squash leaders in the United States subverted efforts for squash to gain admittance into the Olympics.

White McManus John White played in PST's (then US Pro Squash) first event in 2009.  

 

He helped rewrite the rules of play. Now he is preparing to step aside.

TRUTH & Rumors

  • ShhArkansas is the only state in the United States without a squash court.
  • Word is the SDA Pro Tour players are tinkering with the definition of lets and strokes in doubles and will make changes for the upcoming season.  
  • Yale Coach John Rooney will accept the head squash pro position at Buffalo Tennis and Squash Club and take over next month. The club is home to squash court builder Gordon Anderson of Anderson Courts.
  • Squash New Zealand continues to look for ways to grow the game for the long term. Now they are in the process of building a National Junior Programme for schools (here).
  • 1980: Gail Ramsay, a Pennsylvania State University student, wins her fourth consecutive intercollegiate singles title.  She is the first college player, man or woman, to win four singles titles. Gail is now Princeton University's Women's Squash Coach
  • 2006: Yasser El-Halaby, a Princeton University student, becomes the first men's player to win four consecutive intercollegiate singles titles.
