I was grateful for the opportunity but didn't want to begin by talking about my film. Instead I began by talking about the importance of following one's vision.
I think of a vision as a spiritual guide -- a living entity that demands our attention, an extraordinary teacher, a brilliant strategist. I have come to believe that our visions see with much greater clarity than we can...and so does our heart. I also believe that our visions can teach us all that we need to know and more. Our task is to be good students!!
Hidden Treasures
I also spoke of hidden treasures. Hidden treasures are people that come along to support your vision. They are hidden because you may not discover them until you fully commit to your vision. Then slowly they materialize...sometimes, seemingly out of thin air. But this rarely happens overnight, so be patient. The key to getting support for your vision is to begin by supporting it yourself. Even when you feel doubtful or frustrated. To take root and blossom, the vision must live with you at all times, so be aware of its presence and honor it.
It's About Trust
Not sure where to begin? Feel your way forward with your heart. Then back it up with one step, then another and another. Keep going even when you feel uncomfortable. That's all that I do. Is it easy? Hell no!! But it's simple and so far it has served me well. |
