The Abundance Foundation's Farm Dinner, Chef Challenge, Briar Chapel 5k, DIY Workshop & Pecha Kucha updates!
|
O' Abundant Ones,
In February we'll be hosting one of Chef Kabui's renowned Farm Dinners, and holding several DIY Workshops! Chatham Chef Challenge is coming together and you'll be hearing more about it in March, April and May!
Right now we're really getting excited for Briar Chapel's Earth Day Celebration on April 21st, including our Briar Chapel 5k race, fun run, walk, roll, whatever...and kids' run!
If you're like us, you need some extra motivation to get out running these days...and on some days that certain song can really get us moving. Whether you're new to running or have been wearing out the soles of running sneakers for decades, the right song or playlist can make a mediocre outing into the most inspired, energetic workout yet! Here's a playlist to get fit to (Thanks, NPR)!
There are 11 weeks until the 5k! Plenty of time to get ready! Register here and come celebrate with us!
If you would like to volunteer with us, or have any great ideas we could help with, please contact us! We always appreciate your feedback and support.

Manifesting Abundance
I first met Lisa Dion when we both had a crush on the same boy in college. The boy is long gone and thankfully, we became great friends. I've watched Lisa go from college to cemetery plot sales to becoming a high powered software executive and I have the highest respect for her. At the same time, I've used "abundance theory" or "law of attraction" to help me in the local food and renewable energy field. And it works exceptionally well. If you have any goals this year, this is a perfect workshop for you. If you want to improve your health, your relationships, your business goals, your finances, this "how to" workshop will change how you tackle issues in your life. For a preview of what Lisa is doing, check out her new facebook page. To register for the March 3rd workshop in Pittsboro, click here. Hope to see you there and we love seeing our community reaching it's full potential!

Quick Breads and Muffins
Saturday February 18th, we are excited to present Karen Birbeck's Quick Breads and Muffins. Karen began cooking at age 9 at her 4-H Camp in California and was soon going to cooking classes with International Chefs learning about all types of cultures! Her focus in this class is to help us busy people add more nutrition into our breads and muffins for our families and to also be able to do it quickly instead of eating quick processed foods. To register and work with this lovely baker, a chemist and an educator, click here.

A Victory for Local Economy, Transparency and Sustainable Agriculture!
With the support of $30,000 from Slow Money NC lenders, TS Designs will be able provide 100% NC-grown Certified Organic Cotton t-shirts, a first in the history of cotton t-shirts!
"This financing was critical to move this project ahead and keep the organic cotton fiber in North Carolina which it can best impact NC jobs," said Henry. "Working with Slow Money NC was the logical financing source - local people loaning for local needs." What makes these shirts special?- This exclusive crop was produced and harvested in North Carolina without any harmful pesticides.
- The cotton will travel only 900 miles from dirt to shirt.
- Each shirt can be transparently tracked online from the farm to the printer and every supplier along the way.
- The local suppliers employ over 700 workers right here in North Carolina.
- Printed and dyed with REHANCE - the most sustainable printing process in the industry.
"By utilizing local organic cotton, manufactured in a local, transparent supply chain we can make the most sustainable apparel in the world." - Eric Henry
