Greetings!

We've been enjoying the spring weather, and hope you have too. We've been camping to Myalup.  I still love hotels but as you can see, our son Andrew loves camping.

We've also been watching closely as the rose garden Paul planted for our anniversary, blooms for the first time.

An early reminder that we close for about 2 weeks over Christmas and New year.  We will be closing at 5pm on December 23, 2010.

This month we're talking about sex!  It's interesting that in these modern times, you can get the impression everybody is having fantastic sex.  I've just finished a literature review for my study, investigating female orgasm dysfunction.  It seems that not everybody is enjoying themselves as much as they could be and often they're not sure why things aren't working.  It's similar for men.  There are simple things you can do to help improve life in the bedroom.

There's also an article about Metabollic Syndrome you might find interesting.  It's about your metabolism and why it's not as efficient as it could be.  Also a list of Cancer Prevention Tips for you.

Erectile Dysfunction

The most common causes include heart disease, diabetes, being overweight, hormonal imbalances, trauma - like injury to the nerves and side effects of some prescription medication, drug use or alcohol.

As you can see they are all reversable and managable.  It's all about getting good blood flow to where it's needed.  Wikapedia refers to it as the hydrolic effect.  Poor blood flow impedes the hydolic effect required for satisfying sexual performance.

Low interest or libido can be the result of hormonal imbalances in both men and women.  Usually for men it is low testosterone.  Paul has a number of preparations that can help increase testosterone and blow flow, to improve performance.  There are also some supplements that can almost reverse the aging process and help with the "wilting" that can be a normal part of aging - but it doesn't have to be.

Viagra and similar medications have been quite successful, but don't work for about 30% of men.  This also comes with warnings, that if the "hydrolics" don't go down within 48 hours, get to a hospital or the "member" will begin to die - not something any man wants.  Be aware of any risks or side effects with these types of quick fix medications and check them out yourself.

It can also produce conflict in a relationship, when the man suddenly gets his hydrolics fixed, and is more interested in sex, when his wife may not be.  She may have been relieved to think things were waining a bit.  Be aware that such medications won't help you with relationship adjustments.

Don't be embarassed to talk with Paul about any concerns you have in this area.  Most men experience some challenges at some time in their lives.   Having a challenge at some time, is a normal part of life, and can often be easily and painlessly fixed.

Challenges For Ladies

There are a number of challenges that are common to ladies.  Often the solution is as simple as a saliva hormone test to see the levels and then to rebalance them.

Some of these common problems include
  • vaginal dryness and or atrophy
  • lack of libido
  • feeling angry due to too much testosterone
  • weight gain - and feeling ugly
  • anxiety
  • mood swings
  • depression
  • headaches
  • fatigue
  • painful intercourse
  • night sweats

There's plenty of reasons to be put off sex.  All these symptoms listed above and many others, can be the result of imbalances in oestrogen, testosterone and progesterone.  Either too much or too little of any of these can be a problem, but at the same time, all can be rebalanced.

About 95% of women are capable of having regular orgasms, but less than half that number do enjoy regular orgasms.  Rebalancing hormones is the easy part of the solution.  The other aspects of the puzzle include assessing what your attitudes are towards sex, how you feel about yourself, what unresolved conflicts you have within yourself, and with your partner, resolving any issues with trust, and probably the most difficult one of all, developing good communication with your partner, so you can express what you do and don't like, and developing better lovemaking techniques together.  Great lovers are made, not born.  It takes time and practice with the same person, to become an expert.

Another big inhibitor for women is previous sexual abuse.  Leaving those kinds of issues from the past unresolved can rob you of your future.

We've got two ways to help with these issues.  The first is the saliva hormone test we have available, and then the rebalancing.  The second is counselling to help you uncover and resolve any barriers you may have either from the past or present, helping with partner communication and conflict resolution, and learning better lovemaking practices.  With this combination you could be feeling 21 again!

 Metabolic Syndrome

Is This You, Or Someone You Know?

· Do you have high blood sugar levels - i.e. diabetes or pre-diabetes

· Do you have high blood pressure

· Do you have high blood fats - i.e. high triglycerides

· Do you have problems with your cholesterol - i.e. low levels of high density lipoproteins (HDL) - the 'good' cholesterol

· Are you overweight, with a waist measurement of more than 80 cm if you are a woman, or more than 94 cm if you are a man

If you answered 'Yes' to three or more of these

questions, you may have Metabolic Syndrome (sometimes known as Syndrome X), and you need a health check today!

Cancer Prevention Tips For Everyone

1.      Avoid all animal based fats & oils. Use olive oil if you need to, but in moderation. Fish oil, flaxseed oil & evening primrose oil are good oils.

2.      Do not smoke.

3.      Reduce alcohol intake to two to three glasses of red wine per week.

4.      Be careful of being overweight - aim to be in your weight range for your height.

5.      Eat to live, not live to eat. In other words, eat foods that you know will nourish you rather than eating foods from habit, convenience or cravings.

6.      Aim for at least 70% alkalyzing foods and 30% acidifying foods. Think vegetables and fruit first. Also, have three meat-free days per week.

7.      Eat five smaller meals rather than three large ones.

8.      Eat food raw, steamed or roasted, rather than microwaved, fried or bbq'd.

9.      Juice fresh vegetables and fruit yourself.

10. Don't drink fizzy soft drinks, especially low calorie ones.

11. Avoid sugar, salt and caffeine. Beware of hidden sugars and salt in packaged or pre-prepared food.

12. Remove toxic chemicals that may be in your bathroom, kitchen and personal care products.

13. Avoid electromagnetic radiation, in or outside the home. Especially mobile phones and portable phones.

14. Minimize drugs whenever possible, including antibiotics.

15. Women should avoid extra oestrogen e.g. the contraceptive pill or HRT.

16. Do a cleanse/purge at least once a year to eliminate viruses, parasites or yeasts.

17. Keep your gut in good order by sometimes taking probiotics (good gut bacteria).

18. Keep your immunity boosted by taking zinc & vitamin C, and periodically Echinacea, Olive leaf & Astragalus.

19. Drink at least 2.5 litres of filtered water per day.

20. Do some exercise daily. Try to exercise for at least five hours per week.

21. Love your lymph and move it daily with deep breathing exercises, yoga or T'ai Chi

22. Have a body energy service regularly, at least once every six months with a naturopath, acupuncturist, osteopath or natural therapist.

23. Calm yourself, free your brain, learn to relax, meditate.

24. Learn more about yourself and recognize the things (even people) that limit you and avoid them. Don't put up with things that bring you down, depress you or make you negative. Get rid of any personal "baggage" and deal with anger and guilt as soon as they arise.

25. Surround yourself with positive, supportive and caring people. Love and be loved. Practise acts of kindness.

26. Establish and reinforce your sense of purpose. What do you really want to be doing in one year, five years, ten years time? Have some definite life goals and dream a little.

27. Discover your own spirituality. Think about your place in the universe. Consider God and a personal faith.

28. Be positive and fill your days with real value & purpose. Keep moving forwards.

29. Celebrate life.

30. Remember to laugh and retain a sense of humour.
