| Congratulations Journey Fitness Members! |
Congratulations to some, welcome to others! It's finally summer here in the PNW! Yay!
Welcome to Mike, Chelsea! Chelsea is a friend of Bobbi's who has joined her and is getting MARRIED soon! Mike is Brooke's husband. Brooke has completed a number of 5k classes.
Tina (left) finished her first TRIATHLON! A few months back she mentioned taking swim lessons...and I mentioned a triathlon. Well as people around me are wont to do, before she knew it she was registered for her first triathlon! Tina started a few years ago in a 5k class, graduated up to a 10k. She's been a member of bootcamp since the beginning, and is now officially a TRIATHLETE! Her next goal is to complete more triathlons feeling more confident in the water, and a half marathon! Tina's tri was a 1/4 mile swim, a 6.2 mile bike, and a 2 mile run, also known as a Super Sprint Distance.
Nicole also finished HER first triathlon on Sunday completing the sprint distance. Both ladies (and Tory) competed in the USATF Women's Triathlon in Federal Way on Sunday morning. She finished feeling GREAT with her two kids and husband to cheer her in. Shirley completed the Silver Lake Swim, swimming 1/4 mile in Silver Lake on Friday night. This was after swimming a mile with us on Tuesday night. So who else is ready to tri? Kim was talking tri today! Welcome back Laura! Laura ran the 5k and 10k classes with us last year and then hurt her back and took some time off to get married! She's BACK at morning bootcamps! It was great to see you out there today! |

FEATURED ARTICLE: The All Purpose Pushup
| | By Nick Tumminello It's most likely the first exercise you learned and the one fitness novices do almost instinctively when they try to work out. Yet the push up remains one of the most valuable and effective movements, provided you know how to use it to its fullest potential. Although the push up is well known and commonly practiced in the world of strength training, it's still very misunderstood and under utilized among performance and fitness professionals. In this article, you will learn how to use creative push up progressions and variations to: - Assess and correct muscle imbalances
- Build hypertrophy
- Increase strength
- Develop torso stability
- Increase power
- Improve metabolic endurance (power endurance)
The goal of this article is to give you a new appreciation for the push up and help you to understand that it's much more than just another "horizontal pushing" variation.
