33rd Annual Destin Seafood Festival on the Destin Harbor

The 33rd Annual Destin Seafood Festival is FREE this year! This highly anticipated tradition draws 30,000+ visitors each year and will be set up along the length of the Destin Harbor from HarborWalk Village at the foot of the Destin Bridge to the Boathouse Oyster Bar. The new and expanded venue will bring the Destin Seafood Festival back to its roots on the Destin Harbor. The Destin Seafood Festival will kick off the 62nd Destin Fishing Rodeo, which takes place the entire month of October. Activities include fireworks, arts, crafts, fresh local food, kid's activities and live music. Gulf seafood cooking demonstrations and samplings by well-known chefs will take place at the Fresh From Florida/Gulf Safe sponsored demonstration kitchen.
KID'S ZONE FUN
Kids Fishing Clinic and the Mingo Toss
Melvin Heritage Park
Saturday, Oct 1st, 10:30- 1:30 P.M
The fishing clinic will be for all ages, and there will be prizes for the first 100 kids. It will be hosted by Tim Broom from Half Hitch Tackle as well as local boat captains/fishermen. The Mingo Toss and the Mini Mingo toss will be a version of the mullet toss with kids competing in 3 or 4 different age categories. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes in all age groups will be awarded at 1:30 pm. The mingo toss and the mini-mingo toss is hosted by Jamie Jones from Destin Fishing Service at Fishing Fleet Marina and the Destin Charter Boat Assoc Womens Auxillary. AJ's Annual Wagon Parade starts at 2 P.M on Saturday, registration starts at 1:30. Facepainting and crafts will also be available at west end of HarborWalk Village. Inflatables, rides, games and fun for all ages will be featured at the KIDS Zone. See map online for more details.
MUSIC TO YOUR MOUTH
Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) and the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association (FRLA) will sponsor some of the most talented songwriters in the music industry mixed with our top local talent to entertain throughout the festival's 10 stages. These award-winning musicians are a who's who of songwriters of today's hottest music and have written and collaborated with such stars as Jason Aldean, George Strait,Willie Nelson, Rascal Flatts, Faith Hill, Brooks & Dunn, Toby Keith, Vince Gill and more. The event will feature over 15 top name singer/songwriter musicians to include Bobby Tomberlin, Candi Carpenter, Bill LaBounty, Aaron Barker, Brent Cobb, Charlie Worsham, Alissa Moreno, Tim James, Bridgette Tatum and Trent Summar. Country Music Television's NEXT Country Superstar Matt Mason will also be performing. The free entertainment begins at 5:00 pm on the the Jim Beam Stage at HarborWalk Village. Charlie Worsham has just toured opening sold out shows for superstar Taylor Swift Matt Mason was the winner of C M T's next country superstar. The music continues with the Southern Gentlemen Tour featuring Ed Rolland and Kevin Griffin then topped off with a spectacular fireworks show over the Destin Harbor. The Southern Gentlemen's Tour is led by of Ed Roland from Collective Soul and Kevin Griffin from Better than Ezra who are the lead singers, songwriters, and guitar players for these iconic rock bands that have been mainstays on rock radio for the last two decades. The duo is teaming up for an inaugural tour to perform acoustic versions of their numerous hits in an intimate setting to give their fans a once in a lifetime experience.
Collective Soul has sold over 10 million albums and continues to sell out venues around the world. Collective Soul has experienced high levels of mainstream success with numerous radio hits and gold and platinum selling albums, on which Roland is often the primary writer and producer. Better Than Ezra is a New Orleans based rock band known for their inspiring live shows and devoted fans called "Ezralites". In addition to the #1 hit "Good" on their platinum debut album "Deluxe", hits include "Desperately Wanting", "Juicy", and "Extra Ordinary". In addition to writing all of the group's music, Kevin is a BMI award-winning songwriter with #1 Howie Day hit "Collide" and the recent Sugarland #1 "Stuck Like Glue" to his credit. Jim Beam's emerging artist, The Andy Velo Band, will perform Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The featured performance will be Saturday, at the Jim Beam Music Stage at HarborWalk Village for a FREE concert at 7 p.m. 2010 was a banner year for Andy. In the early Spring, he recorded his first radio single "Hank it up," released June 7th, to national radio. Andy teamed up with award winning Nashville Producer Ted Hewitt, who has had six strait number one hits while producing Curb recording artist Rodney Atkins. Andy's first single "Hank it up" continues to climb the charts with a steady pace and the "AV" camp expects it to continue that way. With excitement surrounding the first single, Andy has shared national stages with several national acts in the past few months including Toby Keith and Trace Adkins.
CHEF'S SEAFOOD KITCHEN
Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery and Okaloosa Gas has partnered with Gulf Safe Seafood at the 33rd Destin Seafood Festival to present the CHEF SEAFOOD KITCHEN hosted by the Destin Charter Boat Association and Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association. "We are proud to support our local community, explained Okaloosa Gas, we are proud of it's professional chefs and restaurants." Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery is featuring a Bosch 30" gas cook-top and 36" Alfresco Artisan grill to be used for the live cooking demonstrations. Top Chefs including Tim Creehan from Cuvee Bistro, Jimmy McManus from Emerald Grande, and Brannon Janca from Stinky's Fish Camp, Tim Cheyrick, McGuire's Irish Pub.
