A+ for Okaloosa County teachers honored at Red, White & Blue American Celebration

It was an A+ for attendance with over 235 Okaloosa County school teachers on hand at HarborWalk Village on August 18, 2011 to be honored as heroes for the Red, White & Blue American celebration, complete with a tribute WW II vintage airplane flyover, live entertainment, prize give-aways and a fireworks finale. Because of these teachers' skills and talents, Okaloosa County schools have been rated an impressive number one in the state of Florida over the last several years. The Okaloosa County School District, with 2,000+ teachers, serves over 28,000 students from pre-K to adult education. All of the public schools are fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.  After making dramatic learning gains since the state started grading schools, Okaloosa County has consistently achieved an A+ rating and considered in the top 3 districts in the state.  This year our high school students achieved the highest FCAT scores in science, math and reading out of 67 school districts.
