3rd Annual Destin Swordfish Shootout Heating Up! After months of planning and preparation, the 3rd Annual Destin Swordfish Shootout, co-sponsored by Legendary Marine and Hydra-Sports, is now just days away and the excitement is building. Slated for June 16- 18, 2011, the event has already drawn teams from around the Southeast for what is sure to be a hotly-contested tournament. According to Tournament Director Captain Erik Anderson, this year's event has great appeal thanks to cash prizes, calcuttas and the chance to win a 2011 Chevy Silverado from Preston Hood Chevrolet for anyone who breaks the current state swordfish record. The addition of two new prize categories including dolphin and wahoo is another popular event enhancement. A raffle will also be held featuring a terrific mix of fishing and nautical products, with all proceeds to directly benefit the Destin Fishing History Museum. "The crews are ready to fish and the fishing so far has been good," said Anderson. "We've got a good moon and we're hoping for excellent weather." The tournament kicks off Thursday, June 16 at 6 pm with a gala Captain's Party at the spectacular Emerald Grande Captain's Deck overlooking Destin Pass, featuring great food and a fireworks show at 8 pm. Fishing commences Friday at 10 am and runs through Saturday, with close of scales at noon. The event wraps with a Bloody Mary Brunch at Emerald Grande followed by the awards presentation. Rick Ryals, host of the Florida Sportsman Radio Network, will serve as the event special guest emcee.
