April 30th marks the end of our multicultural celebration, Passport to Discovery, and we want everyone to join in the fun. We hope that you've enjoyed some of our special programs over the last few months, highlighting the diversity of our surrounding area and the beauty and traditions of the different cultures it represents. On this final day of Passport to Discovery, we celebrate Queen's Day, a national holiday of the Netherlands, which of course celebrates the birthday of a former monarch but is mostly known for its "free market" when everybody sells their wares in the streets. Children's games and music are also prevalent.
Couple more things:
*In the Netherlands, the color synonymous with Queen's Day is orange. There are orange banners, orange-colored foods and drinks, and extreme amounts of orange clothing and creative accessories are worn as well. So wear your orange and wear it proud!
*If you rent a space and wear your orange, you can do some shopping yourself in the Discovermore Store and receive 20% off your purchase.
*If you're feeling super generous, donate your sales earnings to the Dinosaurium, and in thanks, we'll extend your membership a full year. |
