Sunjata Kamalenya is the story of a boy who is to be the greatest king of his people and his loving mother, who must help him to first overcome the adversity of a world of sorcery. McCarter Theatre's education team has created an experience in which audience members are very much a part of the play, taking on various roles and helping to create the magical world of medieval Mali through music, dance and theatricality. If you're in the room, you're in the show!

Pack your jeep and cross the African Plains, as we go on a safari scavenger hunt throughout the Museum. We'll make accessories to go along on our trip, and we may even see a live animal or two.

Meet other families with children on the autism spectrum and  have an opportunity to socialize in a safe and interactive environment.

Teacher Workshop: Healthy Human Body and Dental Health

Discover the stuff you're really made out of - anatomy for young children and incorporating healthy habits into your classroom. It's never too early to teach the importance of eating right and taking good care of your body. Dr. Kevin Gyrunia will be joining us to discuss stress management and posture and its affects in the classroom. Remember, a healthy life is a happy life! Registration is required and there is a cap of 50 attendees per workshop. The first three participants from each site are free! The Subaru Center for Learning will be kicking off it's 2011 free teacher workshop series with "Healthy Human Body and Dental Health", Thursday February 3 from 5-7pm.  

 

     The 2011 series includes the following:

Wednesday, May 4 - Math Activities with a Literacy Connection

Wednesday, July 13 - Sensory Activities and Sign Language

Wednesday, August 3 - Using Community Resources in your Classroom

Wednesday, October 12 - Edible Art

Wednesday, November 9 - Connecting Through Learning Centers

Tuesday, December 6 - Music Through the Year

We cap the workshops at 50, so please only register 3 teachers per institution, any more then three will be charged a $25 fee.
