Greetings!

Noble HeartThis Friday we will listen to Session 5 in our series by Pema Chodron, Noble Heart. Topic: The Aspiration Practice of Compassion. Pema will also discuss the "soft spot," the vulnerable point of tenderness in each of us. This soft spot is considered the weak leak in the solid structure of ego. At this open place, our barriers are less evident. We will learn to access this soft spot as we continue with practicing on the four immeasurables: loving kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity.

Schedule

Friday nights, 7-9 pm. Doors open at 6:45.

Rita's Progress Report

Three weeks ago today I started taking Femara, the hormone blocker that is my main anti-cancer treatment. I met with my oncologist, Dr. Penley, on Monday, and we determined that it is already working! My progress even since last Friday is remarkable, and I seem to get better every day.

I am journaling this experience at Caring Bridge. Many thanks to everyone for all the expressions of love and support.

The Four Immeasurables

(This is a repeat from last week, due to popular demand.)

Equanimity
May I be free from preference and prejudice.
May I know things just as they are.
May I experience the world knowing me just as I am.
May I see into whatever arises.

Loving kindness
May I be happy, well, and at peace.
May I open to things just as they are.
May I experience the world opening to me just asa I am.
May I welcome whatever arises.

Compassion
May I be free of suffering, harm, and disturbance.
May I accept things just as they are.
May I experience the world accepting me just as I am.
May I serve whatever arises.

Joy
May I enjoy the activities of life itself.
May I enjoy things just as they are.
May I experience the world taking joy in all that I do.
May I know what to do, whatever arises.
