Greetings!

Noble HeartThe stars have surely aligned to come together this week for Luminous Mind. We are ready for Session 4 in our series by Pema Chodron, Noble Heart. Topic: The Practice of Maitri (Lovingkindness). Pema will introduce us to the Four Immeasurables and how to practice on them. This is where we'll begin to make use of the lists of people we began to make after session one. The method we learn in this session will carry forward in the sessions to come, so we will be establishing a foundation for this important practice.

Schedule

Friday nights, 7-9 pm. Doors open at 6:45.

Rita's Progress Report

I'm doing  very well, feeling stronger and more normal every day. Tomorrow I will finish the final session of ten radiation treatments to my hip. I have had no negative side effects from the sessions, and my hip has been getting stronger every day, indicating that the treatment is WORKING. Every day I see progress in my health. My breathing is much better and, aside from occasional coughing, I'm quite comfortable.

If I weren't well enough, I wouldn't meet yet. But I'm ready. When we come together for Luminous Mind, I am strengthened by the love of our community and the fulfillment in my heart, so at this point I think it's the best thing I can do.

I am journaling this experience at Caring Bridge, and my progress can be tracked there. Many thanks to everyone for all the expressions of love and support.

The Four Immeasurables

Equanimity
May I be free from preference and prejudice.
May I know things just as they are.
May I experience the world knowing me just as I am.
May I see into whatever arises.

Loving kindness
May I be happy, well, and at peace.
May I open to things just as they are.
May I experience the world opening to me just asa I am.
May I welcome whatever arises.

Compassion
May I be free of suffering, harm, and disturbance.
May I accept things just as they are.
May I experience the world accepting me just as I am.
May I serve whatever arises.

Joy
May I enjoy the activities of life itself.
May I enjoy things just as they are.
May I experience the world taking joy in all that I do.
May I know what to do, whatever arises.
