Greetings!

We are definitely meeting this Friday night, and I'd like to call a special "family meeting." As you may know, I've been diagnosed with breast cancer, which has metastacized to the lungs and bone. I'll meet with my oncologist next Tuesday morning to hear the final results and learn what the treatment plan will be.

During this time, my path is rising up to meet me, and I'm so grateful for the practice and teachings I've been able to receive over the years. I'm not afraid of whatever comes, though I'm going to fight to get well with all my might. There are things I'd like to share with our sangha family that are relevant to this poignant time. Some of them may help you understand why I'm not afraid, and I think it's time to share them. In the course of sharing, we'll talk about the bardo teachings, dharmakaya, and the clear light luminosity that is the ground of our being. Hopefully, that will be enough teaching for the night.

I hope to see you Friday night.

My Life Motto

This is the true joy in life,
the being used for a purpose
recognized by yourself as a mighty one;
the being a force of nature
instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances
complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.

I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community
and as long as I live it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can.

I want to be thoroughly used up when I die,
for the harder I work the more I live.

I rejoice in life for its own sake.
Life is no "brief candle" to me.

It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment,
and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible
before handing it on to future generations.

- George Bernard Shaw from Man and Superman, Dedicatory Letter

Let's wake up!

With love,
