Greetings!

It's not too late to be a part of the retreat this weekend. Greg Bender and I have talked through the retreat and it's going to be wonderful, with ample opportunity to work in various ways to truly "get" the material. It is a truly unique opportunity.

Greg has developed the schedule so that each session will stand on its own as well as link with the other parts, so even if you can only make it for one part, please feel welcome to come.

· Friday night, 7-9 pm, doors open at 6:15. Come a little early to get a spot and meet Greg.

· Saturday morning, 10 am - 12:15ish

· LUNCH (If you register by 4:00 today, you can still get in on lunch)

· Saturday afternoon, 1:30ish - 5:00

Retreat This Weekend:

Joy-Grace-Awareness
with Greg Bender

Register Now!

Friday, May 21 - 7:00-9:00 pm
Saturday, May 22 - 10:00 am-5:00 pm with a break for lunch

Registration is now open for our retreat with Greg Bender, which takes place two weeks from now, May 21 and 22. We will meet Friday night at our usual time and Saturday 10-5 with lunch and tea breaks.

Greg has been a practitioner for over 30 years and has been encouraged to teach Mahamudra, a method of direct awareness in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. He writes of the topic for this retreat:

"By recognizing and cultivating a manner of being alive, awake and aware in our world, we can embrace the gift of grace, its beauty, kindness, love and compassion.  By embracing and sharing grace we come into a sense of joy which engages the world and brings comfort and abundance for ourselves and others around us.

We will discuss the ideas around awareness, grace and joy, contemplate their experience and through meditation open the gate of possibility."

A Path Without a Path

OM Jnanadakiniye
To you who gave me birth, the Great Mother
Nursed me with the flow of wisdom milk
Attended my travails with comfort for a son
And led me through death without death
I supplicate you

I place my forehead to the feet
Of all the glorious teachers
Whose lotus lips proclaim the truth as such
And lead by their compassionate example
Beings to the unconfused state

The unconfused natural ground is free
Without elaboration or concept
When present without effort it is manifest wisdom
Spacious and lucid womb of liberation not created itself
Dharmakaya unborn of cause is thus, unceasing source of creation.

By resting perfectly in the samadhi of relaxed abiding
Result and cause is not born one from the other
Wisdom radiance appears becoming sudden clear knowing
That moment of clarity is śamatha and vipaśyana coming together,
And mind in naked silence collapses into its nature.

The stillness of no remainder is dharmakaya
Awareness coming forth unimpeded is sambhogakaya
Nirmanakaya is co-emergent dance of movement and stillness
These are three facets of the same jewel
Wisdom and compassion of the three kayas.

Without grasping at stillness itself
Awareness without obstructing itself
By freedom from chasing the flux of its radiance
Spontaneous presence of the natural state
Manifests the qualities of profound suchness.

There being no view of elaborate instruction
There being no meditation as its object never arises
There being nothing to act upon is freedom of binding
This is the path without a path
As told by whispered dakini speech.

Verses A Path Without a Path composed July 28, 2009, coincidently the anniversary day my mother gave me-birth. Brought to this retreat as the Muse, a guide and companion, they will continue to inspire. May they be inspirational to others... however many errors may be discovered therein. They are mine.
