Progressive Stages of Meditation on Emptiness
This Friday will be a Skandh-o-rama!

We will gather this Friday at 7 pm
to review the teaching from last week's video, add material from the book, and work on the meditation appropriate for this stage. We'll also go ahead and watch the first five or so minutes of the next teaching, which wraps up the Form Skandha. Finally, we'll clarify the five skandhas so that we're all on the same page moving forward.

We start at 7:00 and end at 9:00, so try to be a few minutes early so you can get settled and we can start on time. (But if you can't get here on time, please come late anyway!)

Notes from last week's video are now posted on the blog, including the guided meditation which is our homework for this week.

No review night next Monday. If you ever wonder, call or check the Calendar online.

Join the Reverse Festival - Visit your fellow Buddhists in the spirit of harmony and cooperation

NBF IconLuminous Mind is proud to participate in the Nashville Buddhist Festival. Here is a message from the Board.

The Nashville Buddhist Festival has decided to forego a festival in 2009, with the intent of coming back strong in 2010. However, we want to keep the foundation of our dharma community collaboration strong in 2009, even without a shared event. To that end, we invite everyone to visit all the local participating Buddhist centers over the coming months, in order to participate in and experience their practices.

Rather than having a standard festival this year, the Nashville Buddhist Festival Board has voted to have a "reverse festival." In other words, we encourage everyone to visit each others' centers this year, in the spirit of harmony and cooperation among all Buddhists in the Nashville area.

To see the meeting times of participating centers, visit the Calendar page. You will also find a joint calendar listing the major dharma events and retreats of all our centers.

We are also beginning a regular email newsletter listing major news and special events of our community sanghas. To stay up to date on the latest news, sign up for our email list.

For those who are new to this area or haven't yet begun to practice with a specific sangha, our Nashville Buddhist Festival website is a great resource. Visit the Host Centers page for a description of all of the participating meditation groups. You are welcome to visit and practice with any of these groups.

Note: All the local centers and their calendars may also be found on the Luminous Mind website. Visit the Calendar and Links sections.
Let's wake up!

With love,

Rita Frizzell
