EFAC ANNOUNCES FIRST SCHOLARSHIP STUDENTS

Forty two EFAC scholarship students begin high school in 2009 thanks to your support and generousity. These girls and boys come from all over Kenya. They share two things in common. They are exceptionally needy and exceptionally qualified
Many of these children are orphans,  girls rescued from early marriage,  children living in Internally Displaced Person's Camps, children of  nomadic families  or children whose parents are peasant farmers making under $1 a day. Despite these difficulties these children have excelled academically, shown strong leadership qualities, and are committed to community service.
EFAC is proud to welcome these accomplished young student scholars into our scholarship program.

Meet our first students. http://educationforallchildren.org/students/students-efac-support.php

SCHOLARSHIP SPONSORS

To those of you who have so generously supported these student, we will be sending you information about your student in April. During our trip to Kenya, we hope to meet all the students to tell them how proud we are of their accomplishments and to gather pictures and stories about their lives. We look forward to sharing their information with you in what we hope will be the beginning of an enduring friendship.

FOUNDERS TRAVEL TO KENYA
In a ground breaking trip to meet EFAC's first scholarship students Rod and Nancy will travel to Kenya on February 20th.  We will visit each high school where our scholarship students attend, meet the students, talk with the head of each school and interface with the teachers. Through pictures and interviews, we hope to paint a picture of the remarkable changes that you all are making in these young lives.

DONOR TESTAMONIALS

"What makes your organization unique is that you have combined your background in education with your experience in business to produce one of the most carefully constructed and fastest growing nonprofits I have ever seen." Kate Strasburg, Co-Director, Healing Environments

"Our family of companies prides itself on tithing each year to charities. Most of it is focused in New England. Because of the compelling need, direct impact and effective and strong management, we have added EFAC to our annual recipients." Stephen Duprey, President, Foxfire Management Company

EFAC AND AFRICAN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY DEVELOP MENTORING PROGRAM

All scholarship recipients will meet once a year for a two day mentoring program at ANU. Each scholarship student will partner with an ANU student mentor. The mentor will partner with the student to offer advice and guidance during the program and beyond.

The two day workshop will also include speakers and organized interactive sessions. We see the mentoring program as a key component of our education program. Our students will benefit from contact with an older mentor and gain a vision of where he/she is going in life. EFAC has agreed to underwrite the cost of this valuable addition to the program.
