Great News!
"On Friday I had my ten year hip evaluation.
After my five year evaluation my doctor said the replacement was in great shape and should last 30 years, but I was showing wear and tear and a loss of cartilage in my right hip due to it being the weight bearing hip prior to the surgery.
I think I beat it up pretty bad limping. He guessed 10 - 15 years before he would have to replace that hip.
Now back to Friday's X-rays, the replacement is nearly perfect after 10 years, very minor wear side to side, and no wear at the top of the cup which is what causes problems on some patients. He says I'm good for 40 more years.
Best of all the right hip showed that all of the cartilage had grown back, lots of muscle and lots of new calcium. I will not need the right hip replaced in the future. I have been taking a Glucosamine-Chondroitin supplement for many years and I guess that has helped rebuild the cartilage, but the Superslow exercising for the past five years has absolutely helped build all of the muscles in the area.
I love City Wide Superslow and I am proof positive on how it helps you improve your body. I am a customer for life."

Pregnant Women Get the Green Light to Exercise
by Alexa Burnell
Although it was once believed that a woman should decrease both the intensity and duration of her workouts during pregnancy, new research set forth by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists(ACOG) suggests otherwise. The original guidelines, developed in 1985, were intended to prevent complications from occurring. However, these guidelines were very conservative based on animal studies since human data was limited. Since then, human studies have proven inconsistent with the animal studies of the 1980's. Today, much more liberal guidelines exist. ACOG now recommends that in the absence of medical or obstetric complications, pregnant women can and should exercise during pregnancy. While the former research advised women to avoid letting their heart rate exceed 140 beats per minute during pregnancy, this limit no longer holds true. A woman's resting heart rate naturally increases during pregnancy. Counting beats per minute is not an accurate reflection of how hard the heart is actually working. Instead, experts suggest listening to one's body to make decisions regarding intensity. Furthermore, the old exercise guidelines limited exercise to 15 minutes as it was feared that a woman could overheat and harm the fetus. New research shows that a pregnant woman can regulate her body temperature more efficiently than a non-pregnant person. In addition, a pregnant woman's body has a shunted response to stress during exercise. During normal exercise, the stress hormones norepinephrine and epinephrine are released. During pregnancy this response is limited as the body naturally protects the fetus and the mother. Of course, there are a few precautions worth taking into consideration. After the first trimester, ACOG advises women to avoid lying supine or standing motionless, as both positions may reduce blood flow back to the heart. ACOG also recommends avoiding isolated hip abductor and adductor exercises after 16 weeks of pregnancy to prevent straining the pubic symphysis and arterial compression. On a similar note, the hormone, 'relaxin' is released during pregnancy thus causing the joints and ligaments to 'loosen'. Women should take special precautions not to 'overstretch' during pregnancy as this may result in injury. By taking into consideration these few minor adjustments, women can safely continue to exercise during pregnancy and prepare their bodies for both labor and the physical demands a new mother faces.
