So Many Exciting Spring Events!
Q&U
If it's Spring, it must be time for some annual favorites - Math Day at Holiday Village, Mr. Gary's Fish Derby and the Wedding of Q&U. These are but a few of the exciting events we are looking forward to in the Mount Laurel Schools. During Math Day, second-grade students from Countryside and Springville Schools spend the better part of the day playing Math games with senior residents at the Holiday Village Clubhouse. During Spring Break, bus driver Gary Kelmer will meet current and past kindergarten students and their families at the Spring Valley Pond for a day of fishing. And in May, Kindergarten students at Countryside will participate in the "wedding" of Q & U, two letters that will forever be together! It's all about learning and sharing.
Harrington Teams Take Titles
Harrington Middle School's Math Teams have both come away from this year's New Jersey Math League competition with first-place honors in Burlington County! Under the advisement of Harrington Teacher Beverly Fitzpatrick, both the 7th and 8th-grade teams took top honors at the county level. Additionally, our 7th-grade team placed 6th in the entire state of New Jersey and our 8th-grade team placed 10th. One of our students missed only one problem and placed second in the state!
"This is my fourteenth year of administering the contest," said Ms. Fitzpatrick, "and I have never had such impressive results.  It is the first time both teams have placed first in the county and it is the highest we have ever placed on the state level. I am so proud of these students for this amazing achievement!"

School Election Changes
See You At The Polls In November!
red check mark
Beginning this year, annual school elections will be held at the same time as General Elections in November. This change, enabled by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie this past year to reduce the costs of special elections, will ask voters to select board of education members on November's ballot.

Annual Budget Approved
The 2012-2013 Mount Laurel School Budget was adopted by the Board of Education at the March 27 meeting. Changes in school election law this year preclude school budgets under the state-mandated two-percent spending cap from public vote. In the future, where Mount Laurel's proposed budgets exceed the state cap or contain special questions, the budget will be placed on the general election ballot in November.
