As the weather begins to warm up many of us will start our outdoor chores such as painting. Remember to use your ladders and equipment safely and properly. A fall from a ladder or a hit in the head can cause a brain injury or spinal cord injury or another debilitating injury.

OliviaSweet Olivia meets goals
 one step at a time!

You can find sweet Olivia, 7, talking and interacting with other patients on a daily basis at The Rehabilitation Institute. "She doesn't know a stranger," said her mother Susan. Olivia, pictured left, was born with spasticity in both legs making her other muscles weaker and causing walking problems. During her two-year period of therapy at The Institute she has met and exceeded goals. After having surgery on her spine, one of her goals she exceeded was to walk so many steps without tiring. "She wants to do things and is persistent," said Susan.  Olivia and therapist

Olivia receives physical, occupational and speech therapy at The Institute.
The therapists work with her on her posture, handwriting, stretching and walking among other important skills. "We can come here five days a week and it covers all the therapies," said Susan. "I have noticed a gradual improvement in her."
