Every Bird Deserves a Place to Call Home!

Clients at The Rehabilitation Institute RI Industries Sheltered Workshop on 12th and Troost are doing something to help our friendly outdoor neighbors. They make bird houses out of rescued wood, much of which comes from old barns. "I have a client doing measuring, a client sawing, a client putting the house together and a client putting the decorations on it," said Ervin Brewster, woodworking supervisor. If you are interested in seeing any bird houses, please call Lynda Pellerito at 816-751-7854.

Church bird house silent auction has begun!

Ervin, along with his team, most recently created a beautiful church bird house. "Someone had given us a bell and I designed around it," said Ervin. With stained glass window panels and a fork from New Orleans found in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, this one-of-a-kind church bird house is available for auction. If you are interested in bidding on the church bird house please email Celeste Burks at cmburks@rehabkc.org or call her at 816-751-7901. The bidding will close at 4 p.m. on November 13.
