"With our food pantry, the line is unbelievable," says Yvonne Stennett, executive director of Community League of the Heights. "The line has quadrupled in size. People will get in line at 6:00 AM, and we don't open the doors until noon. I am nervous that this is just the tip of the iceberg." Stennett's group is one of 14 helped through The Trust's 2009 Neighborhood Revitalization grants to meet poverty, hunger, and unemployment head on.>>

Helping Principals Lead
Teaching Matters
Three grants will be used to bolster leadership in City schools by helping them use new learning technologies, funding a study determining if principals in poorly performing schools are getting enough assistance from the Department of Education; and bringing in experts to cut down on classroom conflict.>>

You've Got to Be In It to Win It: Getting An Accurate Census Count
Census Count 2010 The 2010 census count will affect political representation and direct the allocation of billions in government spending. Based on successful efforts during the 2000 census, The Trust, New York Foundation, and Open Society Institute formed the 2010 Census Funders NYC Initiative to fund efforts by 35 groups to get a more accurate count.>>
