July, 2012
Greetings!

The Chris-Craft Antique Boat Club is clearly on the path to recovery. As stated in the "Business" section of Boat Buzz, each member of the current Board of Directors stands by his convictions to restore the trust of the membership, establish a sustainable financial structure, and provide proper governance and accountability.

The Brass Bell is back into production and the next issue is in the mail. You should receive yours very soon. It is our intent to produce future issues on a compressed schedule through the remaining months of this year.

It is our sincere hope that you feel as we do about The Chris-Craft Antique Boat Club. We believe that our mission as your leaders is to make every effort to bring this Club, the oldest and largest marque club of its kind, to also be the best marque club. With your continued support this goal will most assuredly be met in the very near future.

Sincerely,

Board of Directors - Don Ayers, Paul Harrison, Don Vogt, Al Benton
Changes are Coming

Not many, but you'll like them.
  • New Renewal Schedule
  • The Brass Bell - New Look, Great New Content, On Time
  • E-News - Monthly
New Renewal Schedule
In reality renewals will be the same as they were intended to be in the past. Our Club includes many benefits. The Brass Bell is just one of these. Your membership dues were not intended to represent a subscription to a quarterly magazine. They were, and still are, annual dues for The Chris-Craft Antique Boat Club and entitles its members to all of its benefits, including its publication, The Brass Bell.

This year The Club intends to continue sending renewals as the next Brass Bell is published, much the same as in the past. However, your next renewal will be due on the anniversary of the date you joined The Club.

The Brass Bell - New Look, Great New Content, On Time
You'll see the Fall 2011 Brass Bell in your mail box very soon. It has a fresh new appearance and has some fabulous articles inside that we are confident that you'll enjoy. It's not on time; however, the new Board of Directors (BOD) is working very hard toward that goal as we continue to recover. We pledge to continue to win your confidence in The Club by producing our publication in a timelier manner into the future. We'll get there with your continued support.

eNews - Monthly
We will be sending monthly eNewsletters like this to keep you informed and advised frequently. We are making every effort to bring you interesting tidbits and stories in each future issue of the eNews. Look for it!

More On The Horizon
There certainly are more changes that are being worked on. For instance, our IT Team is working on freshening up our Website appearance and functions. Our Membership Team is busy looking at new ideas for providing a Club presence at more boat shows across the country. Our Directors are continuously searching for new ideas that might improve our communications with you, museums, other similar organizations and marque clubs that will benefit the hobby, lifestyle and especially our members. There is a lot to look forward to in the coming year.
Best Chris-Craft Awards

A central goal of the Chris-Craft Antique Boat Club is to promote the acquisition and preservation/ restoration of Chris-Craft boats. Owners are often encouraged in this effort through participating in boat shows. Traditionally, the Chris-Craft Antique Boat Club provided award certificates to those whose Chris-Crafts were awarded Best Chris-Craft at these shows. The club would like to bring back this practice, and provide appropriate recognition to those who go the extra mile in working on their boats. We are working with judged shows to ensure that there is a Best Chris-Craft award at each show. For example, Directors Ayers and Harrison were on hand for the first such award at the Houston Keels & Wheels show earlier this year.

In addition we will be posting photos of Best Chris-Crafts awarded this last year and new awards as they come in this year. They will be found on the Website in the Boat Buzz under "General," "Shows, Museums, & Event Locations" for time being. Our ultimate goal is, when the Website is updated, to give these boats and their owners a separate place for the display of these boats.

Most of these are ACBS shows, and we will be getting pictures from them. If you know of any non-ACBS shows which have such an award, please let us know. If not, please give us a contact and we can work with the club organizers to see if we can help establish such an award.

There are a tremendous number of fabulous Chris-Crafts out there, and we think this effort will not only recognize the hard work that went into them, but will be a source of inspiration for the rest of us.

What's The Buzz About

Boat Buzz is our on-line forum designed for all of our members to communicate openly with fellow members. It now has over 40,000 subjects that include almost every aspect of subject and interest that are related to boats, boating, maintenance, Club news, and miscellaneous topics. Check it out. As a member you may participate in any of the discussions after logging in, using your username and password. Try it! You'll like it!

Trading Dock

Trading Dock is our on-line Buy, Sell, Trade Website for our members and others (you need not be a member to add a listing). It has recently been cleared of old, non-active listings to make it easier to find what you may be looking for, or wanting to sell or trade.

TradingDock.org is a self-standing Website but is managed by the Chris-Craft Antique Boat Club as a service to anyone in our hobby and is not just for posting old Chris-Craft boats, engines, materials, and collectables. So if you are planning to buy, sell or trade anything nautical, give Trading Dock a close look.
